Re: Trying to set up a media centre and need help please.

I would search google for setting up transmission (a linux bittorrent program), unfortunately we do not allow posts providing a guide for such things as most countries view the piracy of music/video/books/software/games/etc as an illegal activity so any discussion of or instructions for setting up a...

Re: TV remote emulates keyboard?

In the past I've used an old IR keyboard to control the Pi using a USB port instead of trying to connecting an IR receiver through the GPIO ports. The only reason I stopped was because I moved to a new house and placed all my equipment in a closet. The IR receiver doesn't like having its signals tra...

Re: Raspberry Pi Power Requirements

The power requirement is a disaster....cords shoplifted out of the store...replacement difficult...hunting around (it looks like a "lightning" but is actually a microUSB), and those specs: 5 volts is easy enough to find, but 700 miliamps---and not 1 amp...awful. I've tried several times and it lock...

Re: Turn Raspberry Pi into a P.L.C (Programable Logic Contro

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has made it clear from the get go that it is okay with and encourages commercial applications using the Pi. It would certainly be very cool if someone came along and continued working on creating an open source PLC program for the pi, but the two pieces of software recent...

Re: opengl toolkit/library for RPi

My only response to the 2 posts above is that only 1 issue has been addressed. I now know that it was supposed to be "#include" rather than import, in which case the authors who copied this original work without checking it first have got some explaining to do. Actually, gcc (the c compiler that co...

I see, well I can't help too deeply since I'm not a graphics guy, but I can help with one thing The next biggest problem I have is "import "bcm_host.h" <-- WHAT IS THIS? Hi edbird, I fear you've necro'd a very old thread with a somewhat inflammatory rant that doesn't clearly address your issue (was it meant to be deliberately unclear in some sort of hipster ironic statement? :-P ) Could you try again and calmly explain where things have gone wrong so that the author...

Re: YOU SUCK: the venting thread

All we need is RTFM or at a stretch LMGTFY. Spending an hour trying to find a solution to a problem, finally finding a google hit that matches all your search phrases only to find the only response to the thread is "google is your friend" or "Why don't you just try googling that?" (Google loops?)

Re: YOU SUCK: the venting thread

OPs who title a topic "How to ...." , don't put a question mark at the end and then in the body ask how to do something instead of providing the 'How to' solution you are searching for. OPs who's topic title gives no information about what they want to know. OPs who's topic title just says "HELP!" ...

I'm going to guess it's basically dead. It's definitely not supported in any way by the foundation (or in other words it's a 100% fan based project). The wiki page might lead you to better answers

I was checking out the squeezeplug because I like the idea of a multiroom speaker system, and I always see talk about DAC this and DAC that, but is it possible to just use the headphone jack? I know the quality will be slightly lower, but it's good enough for what I'm looking for provided it works.

the HDHomerun Plus is a dual tv tuner connected to the network that transcodes the over the air (OTA) signals into h.264 making it possible to use with the pi. Re: XBMC distribution choice

I've been using openELEC the past month or so and I haven't been overly impressed (no offense!). It seems to respond a bit slower than the last XBMC build I was using (Raspbian), and as was previously noted it doesn't expand very well (so no ustream for me :| ). That said, I also was a bit of downer...

Re: Need help with Ethernet connection in underwater ROV

Couple of questions:

1) Which distro are you using?
2) If you connect to the pi in question with a regular Ethernet cable does it work?
3) Do you connect the cable and then power on, or is the Pi already powered on and not receiving an address after the fact (or is it configured as a static IP)?

Re: RaspBerry Pi(e) Model C (imaginations & wants)

I don't think I would call that the model C. It's really just the model A stripped down to its core components with a specialty interface. Of course I suppose from that stance one could say that the Model B is just the Model A with an Ethernet port and an additional USB port.... All the same, imho, ...
