Re: Making a tiny SD for Booting problem

Are you sure that you had your first usb partition mounted on / after you booted from 16GB SD-card? Did you edit /etc/fstab on your USB drive?

Re: MySQL root password?

I guess you are using Raspbian Stretch and installed MariaDB. In a terminal type:

Code: Select all

sudo mysql -u root -p

Re: I screwed up my pi :(

You cold have put a file named "ssh" onto the first partition (BOOT) if you had some files on your Pi, you wanted to backup before re-installing. This should automatically enable ssh. You could also boot from SD card and mount your USB drive to do that.

Re: LAMP setup on Pi 3

There are only two things in the video that differ from what I had been doing. One was installing libapache2-mod-php and the other was using "phpmyadmin" as the login for phpmyadmin instead of "root". "root" is what I've always used. Remember the third thing he did if you want to create databases o...

Re: Getting started with minimal equipment.

Use a Raspbian image. NOOBS requires user input that you can't give without monitor and mouse. Describe what you did to "burn" your Raspbian SD-card that is not readable now. Don't forget to put a file named ssh onto the boot partition (where the cmdline.txt and config.txt files are) as ssh will be ...

Re: LAMP setup on Pi 3

No. All of those solutions are too old. This must have something to do with what sparkyhall referred to with Debian changing to the MariaDB. But I don't understand what that is all about or what to do about it. edit: Hang on. I just found this site https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmrWLj2CE00 and wi...

Re: Set audio output to bluetooth on boot

Connect the speaker by desktop audio icon and then backup your ~/.asoundrc (/home/pi/.asoundrc). Restore this backup when your speaker is connected without desktop.

Re: Raspbian Stretch Bluetooth is Broken

Hi, I still have problems to use my JBL GO with Raspbian stretch. The connection seems to work for a few seconds and then the sound stops and nothing can make it work again but a reboot and a reconnection to the speaker. I have found no glue or even a workaround for this issue... Do anyone have any...

I suspect that hardware has failed but though I better ask fi there is maybe something they have changed in software that has switched off the devices?
I would try a new OS installation on a second SD card, to check that.

Re: pi boot pi from external usb drive

Put your SD-card into a computer and recover cmdline.txt.bak to cmdline.txt. Your PI should boot then from SD-card. Check if there is a /dev/sda1 partition on your harddisk. The "guide" adviced you to mount /dev/sda and there are pictures, that suggest "root=/dev/sda1". I wouldn't follow that guide....

It's true for new installations on stretch. Therefore the installation doesn't ask for a root password.

root@localhost is authenticated via the "unix_socket" authentication plugin. You can login with

Code: Select all

sudo mysql -u root
without a password.

You need a FAT formatted card to install and boot NOOBS, not exFAT.

Re: Apache stops working after libapache2-mod-php5 is installed

Read /var/log/apache2/error.log. Are you using Raspbian? Don't edit /etc/apache2/apache2.conf to include configuration files. Create a symbolic link in /etc/apache2/conf-available and use a2enconf or a2disconf to enable or disable phpmyadmin (you could read this on "the Apache2 Debian Default Page" ...

Re: Suffering with Samba :-(

Try to connect with the IP-address of your pi instead of it's server name.

The "hosts" file is for DNS not for WINS. Is your workgroup name WORKGROUP or did you change this default in the [global] section?

Read /usr/share/doc/mariadb-server-10.1/README.Debian.gz "ROOT USER AUTHENTICATION VIA UNIX SOCKET" You can login as root only as (os-) user root or via sudo. You have to select an other authentication plugin to change that. Read https://mariadb.com/kb/en/the-mariadb-library/user-account-management/...

So where is the "audio menu"? is it Preferences > Audio Device Settings?
Right click on the speaker in the taskbar.
