Re: Berryboot v1.1 - Boot menu / OS installer

This latest release is super, compared to the non-QT one that I had previously tried and the clone OS is an exceptionally great feature. [My normal manual additions to config.txt made screens easier to see.] However, the popup dialog OS chooser doesn't work with SDTV - the bottom button(s) is not vi...

Re: Qemu problem

10.0.2.2 is the default gateway used in Qemu.
As your vm starts up, look out for the DHCP messages, or
"sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart" will display the DHCP assignments: I got a DHCPOFFER from 10.0.2.2, which gave me the clue to try that for the nameserver.

Re: Berryboot v1.1 - Boot menu / OS installer

With the previous release, I had manually added the non-foundation raspbian image, no problems. I intend to setup the new version with almost exclusively my own choice of distros, with no use of a USB stick required. This was all explained on the website and I had raspbian as a compressed image too ...

Re: Qemu problem

Well, I'm sorted out, using "user mode" networking.
Set /etc/resolv.conf nameserver to 10.0.2.2 instead of 10.0.2.3
Change /etc/apt/sources.list to the mirrordirector.raspbian.org site and everything gets updated fine - or so it appears.

Re: Qemu problem

Took me a while to figure it out and I only use the basic networking (no TUN), due to wireless connectivity. Here's the command line, that I save in a shell script, called rpi.sh qemu-system-arm -M versatilepb -cpu arm1136 -m 192 -kernel raspbian/vmlinuz-2.6.32-qemu-armv6 -initrd raspbian/initrd.img...

Re: MATE for Raspbian

Well, I have it up and running but get an initial dialogue box showing an error with dbus authentication - agent already running. It's late here, so that'll wait for another day. At least I now know how to install, if not configure. ;)

Re: MATE for Raspbian

My image build scripts, spindle are designed to make it easy to generate multiple outputs with different customisation but the same base config. I'd be happy to take a look at spitting out a MATE image this weekend, which you could evaluate as a more maintainable way of producing these images. Soun...

Re: MATE for Raspbian

I'm beginning a non-Pi project that will start consuming my extra time. I think the MATE packages are in pretty good shape and they should work find if installed on the Foundation Raspbian image. Are there other things should should be done? I'm talking about the packages rather than the Pisces+MAT...

Re: MATE for Raspbian

Presumably Pisces images are effectively obsolete now that the official Raspbian image is available - might be an idea to reflect this on the Raspbian site. @Mike: It's likely that you're involved in many other things but is MATE finding any time in your busy life? Perhaps an update, if only to refl...

As will the Pi in its' current incarnation, given the fiasco of faulty/ill-conceived USB and PSU pickiness.

Re: Network config(s)

sudo apt-get install wicd
[Not hidden - it's mentioned elsewhere on the forum, though information is getting increasingly disjointed. ;)]
Note: network-manager is also an option, though LAN is relatively easy to configure in CLI and wicd seems more efficient at wireless, in my experience.

Re: raspberry pi foundation raspbian image

On the subject of sshd, I reckon it should start later in the sequence, to allow wireless networks some further time to negotiate a connection. Given that it's a 'supplementary' service, there's no reason for it not to start as late as possible and might also allow ntp to "do its' stuff". Just musin...

Re: Setting up the Raspberry Pi with an old telly. HELP!

Okay so I've searched through these forums trying to find my problems but the simple fact is I don't know my problems are. I have an old TV in my attic which accepts, what I'm pretty sure is RCA, so I connected it to my RPi. What I got the first time was a slight buzz so I swapped the two cables. T...
