Node Red is pretty drag n drop, Pete Scargill prepared a script to set up a pi with Lots of boring installing of all the applications and servers a joined up system needs with a shed load of node red components that are very useful. https://tech.scargill.net/the-script-step-by-step/ saves hours if n...

Assuming your employing SPI to connect the radio board..
https://pinout.xyz/pinout/spi
yes will be the same as earlier models.. just run raspi-config and enable SPI first.

Fraid that is a bit of a classic gotcha, Everyone has fallen foul of an indexed structure starting with index 0 and not the ordinal position 1 ;) It will no doubt bite you again in future in a slightly different guise, tho you may spot it a tad quicker now.. Just google for 'R-Pi python projects /tu...

perhaps someone has done a u-tube teardown of the phone?? i guess, what your looking for is an 'easy' access to the screen and touch screen interface, and a method to attach to the pis i/o? i would imagine the screen driver is embedded on the main phone board so isolating that and attaching to it in...

the term 'headless' is used to refer to a computer running without monitor and keyboard/mouse. and many R-Pis run headless, google for "headless R-Pi setup " for lots of information and step by step walk throughs. some linked above .

its a very easy set up, check it out

in windows file manager use the 'map a network drive' feature to assign a drive letter to your remote disk and have it accessible when you boot up your windows computer without having to connect every time. ..

different sensors will require different handling, the most basic inputs are simple on/off, 0/1, 0v/3.3v, as provided by a momentary contact switch such as found on the piface board connected to digital pin 1 and can be read in python by; (bottom of page) http://www.piface.org.uk/guides/Install_PiFa...

Hi, looks like a useful add on ;) an easier interface to the gpio pins with some i/o h/w (buttons, relays) bundled in too. but without a project/goal to work and learn towards it may remain a daunting task.. Decide on a small project (switch a relay on and off with button presses perhaps) then perhap...

Thanks @DavidCotton, memory isnt what it was

@ieuanbelcher the benefit of buying the kit/sd card you got isnt so much the s/w but getting an authentic sd card that will not cr*p out on you, there are so many dodgy unbranded and fake branded sd cards out there especially if your buying online..

Re: Coupling water sensors with pump - Help for beginner

just thinking aloud here.. i would be tempted to test much simpler sensors - 2 wires +v and digital io pin pulled to ground(0) then when both are connected with the water the io pin will be pulled high (1). if you supply the +V from a 2nd gpio pin you can switch it off most of the time and only turn...

Python would be my suggestion, its more relevant as a get stuff done quickly solution especially with a pi, and has less conceptual stumbling blocks when your first learning. eventually if you get on with it then you will inevitably learn both in the end..

that looks like an industrial pt100 terminal block. If its attached to a pt100 type sensor I think you need a specific solution that involves high precision resistors to determine the difference from 100ohm that indicates the temperature. https://thepihut.com/products/adafruit-pt100-rtd-temperature-...

Had a similar issue installing the basic o/s on the 2nd of 2 pi zero's recently, ended up rebooting the router and access point and things sorted them selves out.
