I am using Raspbian. I can login to the Rpi3 by SSH but not to the GUI.
Are you trying to log in to the GUI locally (using directly connected keyboard and screen) or using SSH (or something else)?

Ok, so is there a step by step walkthrough on how to get Raspian on the Pi4?
1. download Raspbian
2. install Etcher
3. use Etcher to write Raspbian to SD card
4. stick SD card in Pi
5. Done

Re: Several modules on a RaspPi .. possible?

Thanks for your answer. In other words "just buy it, try it and figure it out" :D I woukd start with making an inventory of interfaces / GPIO needed by all the modules. Then see if the Pi can support that. You may need expansion boards / chips to make it work. If they are (p)HATs you can check if h...

Re: Change wlan

Add

Code: Select all

dtoverlay=pi3-disable-wifi
to /boot/config.txt to disable the onboard wifi. You will need to reboot after that.
I expect that your adapter will show up as wlan0 when the onboard wifi is disabled.

Since Stretch Debian/Raspbian uses systemd-timesyncd instead of ntp.
It consists of a service file and an executable.

Re: Kernel updating and Stretch being bumped to 4.19.57

How should the kernel be updated on Raspbian? Raspberry Pi docs say to use rpi-update, https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/linux/kernel/updating.md No, it doesn't. It says If you use the standard Raspbian update/upgrade process (found here), this will automatically update the kernel to the la...

Any suggestions?
reboot your Pi.

Notice that you're still running 4.19.50 but the 'find' sees the files in 4.19.57
I think new kernel was installed in the last update/upgrade and you did not boot your Pi after that.

Does your SD card retain *any* changes?
Create e.g. a new text file in your home directory, then reboot.
Is the file still there with the same contents?

Well, that's not very informative...
You could try to start the program manually (on the command line) and see what the output is.
Or maybe it creates a log file?
