Re: Would like to control some motors, but where to start? H

Hi, so over the past week I have been tinkering about with the GPIO stuff, I haven't quite got to controlling motors, am still playing around with LED's for now, but I have attached to a webcam and have a control on a php page to switch it on and off, very early proof of concept stuff, but thought I...

Re: What's the best way of doing stuff with the GPIO in PHP

Cheers, at the moment I've gone for the very simple option of getting PHP to write to a file, and then having a python script running in the back group that looks for this file and then takes action depending on whether it finds it or not. Still not quite got my head around what the best way forward...

Is it possible to share folders?

Hi, am pretty new to all of this, I was wondering whether it was possible to share out folders over the network so that I can add and edit files remotely. Basically I keep on coming across a lot of good websites with bits of code that I want to run on my Pi but as the web browser on the Pi is so slo...

Re: PHP

Hi, I was looking at this but really stuck with getting the GPIO-admin stuff installed, I'm new to Linux so this is probably where my problem lies. I've been reading through the instructions and they have a few too many gaps in the instructions (I assume I am probably mean to download a file to some...

What's the best way of doing stuff with the GPIO in PHP

Hi, I've reading a number of different threads, and wondering what the best (and simplest) way of accessing the GPIO stuff is in PHP. From what I can see the biggest problem with PHP and GPIO is that in order to access the GPIO stuff you have to be running as root, which is not a great idea as far a...

Re: Would like to control some motors, but where to start? H

The gert board certainly looks like it could offer a solution doesn't it ... has it got a release date? The best I could find was an outline of a release plan which would involve having it available as a pre printed board, list of components to buy and instruction manual ... has anyone heard of a re...

Re: Would like to control some motors, but where to start? H

Hi, thanks for both of your responses, I shall definitely be investigating and reading up about the Arduino stuff. Regarding the car hardware, this has not yet been decided on, I was thinking of a standard kit RC car available from any normal model shop. The only thing that i would be looking for wo...

Would like to control some motors, but where to start? Help

Hi, not 100% sure if this is the correct place to post, so please let me know if would be better posting else where. I would like to connect my Pi up to a remote control car, either by driving the servo's directly, or by connecting it up and controlling the radio signal, but I am absolutely clueless...
