A bit of help for the Python beginner

Hi, I'm just starting out using Python and I have a few questions if you don't mind answering. If they have been answered else where then any pointer on where to look would be much appreciated. I'm using the standard latest Debian image, and using the LXDE. I'm trying to get my head around and have ...

Re: Where to begin with an Arduino

Check out the latest MagPi magazine, there is an article about using Arduino with the Pi ... might not cover exactly what you are trying to do, but may help a bit. Good luck

Re: Will this work with a Pi instead or Arduino?

Many thanks guys, much appreciated.

one more question if I may, I think the answer is yes but just want to check. If I was to use the other GPIOs would it the work in a binary fashion? So would be either full power or no power at all??

Will this work with a Pi instead or Arduino?

Hi, Hopefully looking for a simple yes or no, but any other thoughts suggestions welcome. Will this (http://www.instructables.com/id/Use-Arduino-with-TIP120-transistor-to-control-moto/) work with a Raspberry Pi? Obviously the coding side of things is different with the RPi, but will the electronic s...

Robotic Arm C/C++ libraries?

I was wondering if anyone knew if there were any C/C++ libraries for this Robotic Arm (http://www.maplin.co.uk/robotic-arm-kit-with-usb-pc-interface-266257). I've had a look about the web but not found a what I am looking for. There have been a couple of articles in the MagPi magazine about this arm...

Re: A good live webcam streaming tutorial?

Cheers. Just out of interest, with those settings are you actually getting 10fps and how much of a delay do you have? Just trying to benchmark the performance I'm getting which is about 3 second delay and only seeing a couple of fps over the network. Is this the best I can expect or should I continu...

Re: What I need to use GPIO? ("shopping list")

Take a look at the MagPi issues http://www.themagpi.com/. They have done some brilliant tutorials for beginners. They tell you exactly what you need to buy, you can either click and buy them all online or go down to maplins which is a little bit cheaper.

Re: A good live webcam streaming tutorial?

Thanks Just out of interest, what settings did you settle on in the end. I've been having a play around, by finding that the settings in the ffserver.conf file aren't always being followed. I noticed that the resolution is also being set in the webcam.sh script that calls it. So I set both to 160x11...

Re: A good live webcam streaming tutorial?

Absolutely brilliant. Following the ffstream instructions worked perfectly, took about 3 hours to build it, but all worked perfectly. The only snag now is that its got about a 30 second delay, but i think that might be something to do with the image size so going to have a play. Any tips welcome, bu...

A good live webcam streaming tutorial?

Hi, I am playing around with the RPi and webcam set up and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good tutorial that goes through how to set up the RPi to stream a web cam? I've got my webcam set up, I can view it through "Cheese" and have managed to get "Motion" to work to a point ... at the m...

Peeps, you have been brilliant and I've finally gotten it to work :-) The issue was down to the the power. Must have been. I have a powered USB hub which i chose to stop using. There seems to be an issue with the maximum number of devices attached to the RPi, which doesn't seem to be very much, I ha...

I think i am fixed my own problem ... but not really sure what went wrong the first time around. Hi, I'm just trying to get the new Raspbian image to play and having a problem with LXDE. When I load up the LXDE desktop I don't get any Menu's or icons. What have I done wrong?? I get the raspberry logo on the desktop, the mouse moves and responds, the whole desktop appears to be displaying on the...

Re: 'YouView' Media Centre?

Surely a better, more productive route rather than re inventing the wheel would be to look at XMBC. It can already support BBC and ITV iPlayer ... and I suspect it can do others. Have a look here : http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=6222 However I'm not convinced you are ever going to...
