Good job!

I wrote a blog explaining how to program a time-lapse camera in Python last week. You may find it interesting as it works slightly differently to the way you have programmed yours.

I wrote a blog post about getting started with openCV earlier this month. I needed to type sudo apt-get install libopencv-dev python-opencv to get it working. Re: To determine the frequency of pulse in RPi

Yes I appreciate that, and we would have liked the Raspberry Pi to do more than count encoder pulses, I just thought that you would be interested in the figure as it demonstrated another limitation, and I had it to hand! I think we disagree about the meaning of "count encoder pulses". In my opinion...

Oh what I also forgot to say is I used the Raspberry Pi to simulate an encoder to see how quickly it could switch one of its GPIO pins on and off. Using Python I measured 27kHz.

Re: To determine the frequency of pulse in RPi

I don't have the code here, but I will look on the Raspberry Pi I have in work to see if I can find it. It was quite rough and ready but you are welcome to it. It was a test for any encoder. We have a product we wanted to run on a production line at 10m/s and we thought we may be able to use the Ras...

Re: To determine the frequency of pulse in RPi

Hi, I tried something similar recently to see if I could use a Raspberry Pi to track encoder pulses. I was generating an input signal with a signal generator and seeing if another GPIO acting as an output could switch to match the signal. I measured both signals (in and out) on an oscilloscope. I to...

Having learnt Python a couple of years ago I would say it is a great choice and there is a lot of free resources available on the internet. My advice would be to spend more time programming than reading books about doing it. Start small and work up. If you get stuck, google is your friend. Of all th...
