I have the same issue with write permissions. Everybody are talking about manual mounting with fstab, nobody understand how automount is working on Raspbian and where to change default configuration. Very frustrating I must say!

After removing archive.raspberrypi.org source everything is updated fine. System is not updated so pcmanfm is having nice features which I don't want to lose. Kodi is also working fine. Now I will run sudo apt-get upgrade to see if things will stay like this. Yes everything is fine no new upgrades.

Ok, so after two days of testing I decided to remove sudo apt-get upgrade it is also outdated command. I had some issues with dependencies and some other errors. Hm, but how, everything else is working fine. I started with fresh stretch install. Is it possible that update of rpi did mess things up? How to force rpi-update?

I would suggest noVNC, a remote desktop via web browser. Pure html5, no hidden ssl or some tweaks in Chrome or Firefox. Only thing is that you don't have sound. Sorry but this is way to complicated and there is no tutorial step by step with exact commands for Raspberry, how to make things working without too much hassle. It is a pity, I give up, already spend hours on this not working stuff.

How to make it working with img file created with win32diskimager from SD Card on Windows environment. Image is made on latest Jessie.

Also as I can see with default 2012-07-15-wheezy-raspbian.img image, audio doesn't work and resolution is very small.

I use Raspbian because I am using raspberry also for some other things. Like running SABNzb server, dynamic IP updater.

Kodi works better in standalone mode on Jessie, for an example I don't have black screen issue so offten while playing video...
