### Re: wind speed protocol for reed anemometer

Thinking of reusability of your design, you should consider windspeed in a NMEA or APRS sentence. With the latter being an amateur's quasi standrard format, the former being an industrial standard. See:

... I am writing this with Python 2.7,... I guess, that I need to check first if the current new lat and long are the same as the last lat and long, in order to know when to calculate the new distance, right? Think twice. You better check, whether lat OR lon changed rather than AND, since moving al...

Considering what a radio scanner is intended for you might build an analogue to streaming-for-whatever setup. However, I am neither aware, whether the police radio communication in your country is already digitized nor it is legal to scan this kind of communication. Assuming, you reside in the US: T...

Stop google from claiming common words. This was just the beginning. If they'd succeed, they will claim even more generic words, just like "generic". I dare to assume, google will not kill the raspberry foundation. Screwing up property rights of common property with an educational foundation as a mo...

Probably you have to disable the login shell? Make sure: /boot/cmdline.txt should contain no more „console=ttyAMA0,115200“, whereas your /boot/config.txt should contain an „enable_uart=1“. Check with commands sudo nano /boot/cmdline.txt sudo nano /boot/config.txt Exit editor with ctrl x Or use raspi...

### Re: Power on / off button for Pi

This issue has been discussed many times. The "off" functionality is easily moved to anther GPIO pin. It is controlled by a script as from linked example. The wakeup functionality is controlled by a binary system file. So pin5 appears to carry a hardwired function in means of wakeup (unless someone ...

Just a guess: Either your image or image clone process or the SD card hardware is crap. Since your 4 Pis use the very same clone:
how did you clone?
did you format the SD cards prior to cloning? If so with what tool?

### Re: can i cool my raspberry pi 3 b+ with a 9v motor with an external 9v battery

OK. Since your fan motor is not connected to the Pi by any means a radio interference is most probable. Solder three capacitors to your motor's power terminals. One in between the terminals, two at each terminal to ground, say, the motor housing, see schematic C1 through C3. album_pic.php.gif If tha...

As pcmanbob said, please give more details.

Is the motor connected to the Pi's USB, any other Pi port, or to a 9V battery?
How do you switch the motor?
To what is the monitor - powerwise - connected?

### Re: Can't see my AP on other devices

I see 3 possible sources of error. 1. Make sure, your WIFI hardware is AP enabled. To do so iw list | grep AP should return something with "AP" in it. Otherwise your hardware does not support AP mode. 2. Are you sure, you need the driver statement in hostapd.conf? This line wasted 40h of my lifetime...

In case, the power supply of your pi delivers sufficient current for even feeding a harddrive, try adding

max_usb_current=1

to your Pi's config.txt (/boot/config.txt) This will tell the USB controller to spend more juice to USB slaves (more than 600mA)

I am wondering, why nobody is speaking of networking Zeros with an enc28j60 SPI2ETH chip, making use of GPIO (SPI) pins as demanded by the thread starter Ben_is_best? He asked for networking a Pi2 and a zero only. As this thread https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=91&t=131145&p=874936...
