Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied

I got the same note from Allied. Once again, no details, just a vague promise about 'in the coming weeks'. Is that 1 week, 10 weeks, 100 weeks? They're all coming up. This is the same meaningless 'wait for it' notice that they've been sending out since March to keep us quiet while they apparently do...

Re: SSH setup for Qemulated Pi

One of the things I've had problems with when trying to remotely access a QPi (Qemu Pi) is that a lot of the methods I've seen discussed here will give you an IP that can access the Internet, but can't be reached from anywhere else, even on the host machine. Double check with ping or tracrte that yo...

Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied

Hi Mike Thanks for the useful and helpful information you've been posting here. Could you please confirm though that your comments regarding expected invite and delivery dates for pre-orders and expressions of interest only reflect orders placed directly with RS? Certainly none of them seem to apply...

Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied

Any idea about orders from Allied - mine was on March 3 Order # 2500072540. It was an actual pre-order not an expression of interest, so no follow up invite to RS shop I'd like to second that - I've got a confirmed order placed on the evening of March 5/6, yet there is no information about deliveri...

Re: CANADA! anyone in the GTA?

I'm certainly open to the idea, depending on timing and location. I'd like to wait until I actually have a Pi, and have some experience with the real thing first though. at least then we'd have something to talk about:-) Who did (those of you who have their Pi's) a tally order from? I've been in All...

Re: Any signs of life from Allied Electronics?

Hi Nick I'm read this forum twice a day, and have since I first heard about the Pi, which was quite a while before I actually signed up for the site. My initial question was caused by not seeing 'numerous' posts referencing delivery from Allied. May I assume that you're one of those who ordered from...

Any signs of life from Allied Electronics?

Sorry everyone. I expect every one is getting tired of these 'where is my Pi' posts, but please bear with me. I'm looking to hear from people who either ordered or pre-ordered a Pi from Allied Electronics (North America) and have actually received their Pi. I have received nothing but 'we have your ...

Re: Allied Electronics Order- is it real?

I was in contact with Allied Electronics today on an unrelated matter, but checked on my order at the same time. I ordered on the night of March 5, and my order status is 'Backordered - NO ESTIMATED DELIVERY DATE'

Maybe I shouldn't even think of getting my hopes up.

Re: Pi Emulator?

I don't have a real Pi yet, so can't be sure, but I am running multiple distros under qemu using Windows 7 on an i7 2600k machine with lots of memory. Based on descriptions from other users based on their experience browsing etc on actual Pi hardware, it would seem that the emulated Pi's I'm using a...

Re: People who PRE-ordered after 1 May...

Don't hold your breath waiting for information or delivery from Allied Electronics. I expressed interest with them on March 3rd, and actually ordered a Pi on March 5th. Other than the (sort of) once a month eMail saying essentially 'we have your order, don't bother us' I'm still waiting for some som...

Thanks for the information. I'll take a look at it tomorrow when I have a chance. I hope you'll consider encouraging some of the other QtonPi mailing list members to start posting and sharing their experience here as well. You've got access here to a large group of resourceful people if you can only...

Re: Pi Emulator?

VirtualBox is a great program, but it only allows you to virtualise your existing hardware. This means if you are running it on an X86 machine, you can emulate many other X86 environments, but it does not emulate other processor architectures. If you want to get close to a Pi environment, Qemu will ...

QTonPi General Information

For quite a while there has been a QTonPi distribution on the downloads page, and yet there is virtually no discussion of this topic in the forums! Let's get started talking about this. What is it? When and why would you use it? What is the best way to get started with it? Are there tutorials availa...

Re: Vmware Player + Fedora Desktop + QEMU

Excellent job getting all of that working! I have to agree though, you might want to consider trying Qemu directly from Windows 7 - I'm running the Debian image that way and have had no problems so far. You'll pick up a fair bit of performance from your emulated Pi as well by eliminating the interme...

Re: Emulating Raspberry Pi in Windows the easy way

hello guys, what is the difference of QEMU in this download and the setup i have on vmware? im running debian 6 on vmware to learn and setup my USB broadband modem and usb wifi... Re: Emulating Raspberry Pi in Windows the easy way

Ok - I"m running the Debian package. In order to get the keyboard fixes I used

sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
sudo shutdown -r now

Once it rebooted my problem was resolved.

Re: Emulating Raspberry Pi in Windows the easy way

<t>Kphillis - I"m having the same problem - I think it relates to the default keyboard mapping being set up to a British keyboard. There have been a number of other post about remapping the keyboard on actual Pi"s so assume it"s not related to the Qemu emulation.<br/> <br/> I"m going to try the rema...
