Re: Simple Yes/No question (I hope)

I think that it depends on what you are expecting, or are prepared to accept. You could always buy a Pi2 (just basic stuff, not a lot of money on peripherals) and see what it can do as a file server and as a Plex server (and you could try other media servers too). If it isn't good enough, you can st...

I don't know how far this matches what you want to do

Re: Missing most of tools in NOOBS installed on Pi2?

It is a pity that you did not read the last post on that thread - it is from back in June, and there was a problem where two people were asking different questions and everyone got confused. It would help us a lot if you could copy your post into a new thread, then post a link to that thread in this...

Re: [HELP] How to access files through PC

A simple way is to install "winscp" on your laptop / pc. This is a file transfer program, listing pc files on one side and Pi files on the other (once you have logged in to the Pi). Just navigate to the required folder on both, then drag and drop files from one to the other

Re: Minecraft Pi installed, but no mcpi folder

While I do understand people who are frustrated their Pi does not do what they expect, there are a few things to consider. * Most of the responses to posts in this forum are done by volunteers, like me, although the Raspbery Pi Foundation (RPF) staff do keep a watch on it. Not many of the volunteers...

I have had my finger "poised" over the proverbial button for a while now, waiting to report this, but I have yet to see a RELIABLE explanation of what doesn't work - I don't count typing errors while following the instructions as something that needs to be fixed. The only thing that seems clear is t...

Re: Python pygame in python 2.7.9 and 3.4.2

With a first line of #! /usr/bin/python, a script when run in a bash shell will execute the script using the program /usr/bin/python. You are running the script from the IDLE editor, so these should not be necessary. It would be useful if you could quote the exact text of the error message so we can...

Re: hplips failure

The last line tells an important story, "No space left on device" In a terminal window, type df -h This will show the size and space of your partitions. I suspect it will show 100% on key partitions If the total space does not match the size of the card, you may need to expand the system to fill the...

Re: Solar tracker info

So, I am not an expert at the electronics side of things, but there are several examples of using a Pi to drive motors. You will have to write some code to do what you specify as actions, with regard to the time of day and wind adjustments. I would doubt that there would be anyone out there that has...

Although this is advertised as an Arduino board, and Amazon do not seem to provide instructions, there are Arduino instructions here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Add-Ethernet-to-any-Arduino-project-for-less-than-/ You will have to translate the Arduino Pins to Pi GPIO pins, and modify the code s...

Unfortunately the package upgrade path is quite long - and depends on how quickly these people react. A lot of the development of these packages relies on volunteers, so they might not have time to do everything you might expect. The developers of the software, in your case drobo-utils, will release...

Re: I can't play the games I download

Just because the packages are available does not mean that they will run... very frustrating. Oolite (not the new remake) does not appear to have been ported over to the Pi successfully - I think the package that we can download is faulty, it does not run when I try it either. Some games required to...

Re: Problem installing software: unmet dependencies

It looks like you installed with NOOBS and did not expand your file system to fill the whole card; it says the size is 2.9G. In a terminal window, type

Code: Select all

sudo raspi-config
and choose the 'Expand Filesystem' option

Re: Noob question on powering off

Yes that red light shows it is powered. If the green light has stopped flashing (it won't take long) just pull the plug or switch it off at the wall socket.

Please don't switch off the power without doing the "power off system" thing, as you might corrupt the SD card

I cannot confirm that this is the 'right' way to do it; it works on my desktop... Instead of creating a link to your executable, create a new empty file on your desktop, name it "yourexecutable.desktop" (obviously, choose your own name, but keep the '.desktop' bit). Open it with the text editor and ...
