Re: Unique Serial Number

The RPF has an OUI assigned to them, it's the other half of the MAC that is tied to the serial number.

Re: Hard drive for on the road use

Where are you located? (What is cheap for me may cost twice as much to ship to you.)

And there are a vast number (a plethora?) of posts here about CarPuters built with the RasPi, just take a look around with the search function to find a few.

This is what happens when you hijack someone else's thread. We don't get the entire picture and chasing links to find out the story is droll.

Moving over to that thread to continue the troubleshooting.

Re: RPi and speaker magnets

uSD cards (or any flash device) have no magnetic response. You won't break anything on the 3B nor on your storage unless you are planning on using some old spinners for a Hard Drive. I don't see anything you have listed that would be affected by the Gauss from a 4" speaker.

Re: problem to get ultimate GPS working

Indoors, no antenna, cold boot without ephemeral data. You're going to be waiting more than 5 minutes. Depending on how isolated you are from signal I wouldn't be surprised if you took up to an hour to get a 3D fix, if at all.

Or just use SDFormatter like the OP did since it worked perfectly fine. (But then WIn32DiskImager is going to overwrite that anyways.)

Re: USB devices for measuring temperature, humidity, sunligh

When people look up the weather report on their smartphones for our suburb and dress according to the report, they walk outside then often walk back inside to change clothes. Assuming this statement isn't hyperbole, wouldn't it make more sense to stick your head out the window/door before getting f...

I am developing an intrusion detection system. And one of the threats that should be blocked, is the Syn flood attack. But even iptables blocking the access of the "attacker" is the loss of connection to the internet. Then you've just succeeded in blocking one of the biggest vectors in an attack sc...

Hmm, have you made any changes to /etc/ssh/sshd_config?

Try

Code: Select all

sudo sshd -t
ls -lah /etc/ssh/

Re: ssh.service failed to start at boot

Well that doesn't really show the errors or anything, try sudo systemctl start ssh sudo systemctl status --full ssh And if the image is to big to upload, upload it to a hosting site and post the link. That error just shows that indeed the ssh service failed, but we need to see the actual logged erro...

Re: Executing a script at REBOOT & HALT

My suggestion would be to write a SystemD service file, as you are starting from scratch and most OSes are moving or have already moved to SystemD. However to get your SysV Init script going, have you enabled it? sudo update-rc.d senbox.local enable This will create the proper symlinks to automatica...

Or try one of 2 things, first try decompressing the zip file with 7zip, there are some known issues with the built in zip utility and Windows. Second option would be to use Rufus and don't bother with unzipping the file, just point Rufus to the Zipped download and try writing the image. That image w...

Could be the poly fuse? http://elinux.org/Polyfuses_explained Watch your power supply for misbehavior, but cases where the Pi starts to function again after a few days often lead back to a blown polyfuse that needed time to heal.

Git, and if you don't want to do the public repo thing try setting up GitLab for your own private use. SVN is still used quite sporadically, but if you're going to learn a new RCS, might as well pick up on the most popular one around right now.
