Epiphany browser randomly crashes

I get these occasional crash to desktops when I open like 3 tabs or more. Sometimes happen with 2 tabs. It has been going on since Raspbian Wheezy times and I switched to Jessy but it's still going on. What seems to be the issue here and are there any other browsers like Chromium (somehow it won't i...

Re: Xash3D Engine on Raspberry Pi

I own a copy of Half Life. Is it possible to install to play it on my RPi 2 now using this method? If yes, is there any step by step guide?

Re: Temp controlled Rpi fan code

To run it in the background you could add it to crontab and use "@reboot" to run it when the Pi boots up. I don't think the user crontab will allow the "@reboot", so put it in root's crontab. sudo crontab -e That will open the file for editing, and add this line at the bottom @reboot /path/to/my/sc...

Re: Temp controlled Rpi fan code

OK, so here's my final code. I managed to successfully ramp up fan speed based on CPU temps. But now the script itself uses too much CPU... Like 30%.. Is there anything I can do to stop this? Also how can I run this in background? The script runs as long as the terminal window is open. import RPi.GP...

Re: Temp controlled Rpi fan code

If you utilize 4 cores at 100% of an overclocked Raspberry Pi 2 with heatsink, it reaches up to 65 degrees. (OC settings: 1Ghz core, 500Mhz L2 cache and 500Mhz ram, over_volt=6). The fan cuts the temp in half... And the SoC can run at up to ~85 before it starts to limit. Yeah and modern CPUs in our...

Re: Temp controlled Rpi fan code

I'm running BOINC so I need cooling. No you don't. Running BOINC on a PI is futile as AFAIA the GPU isn't used (it wasn't the last time I checked - I had a PI2 running it and it did SFA), and even if it was it would throttle back to avoid damage. Unless you are running the Pi in 'extreme' environme...

Re: Temp controlled Rpi fan code

Python doesn't provide a switch case function. You can set it up as a dictionary for lookup (associative array), or what most do is just use an "if..elif..else" block to provide the same thing if you don't have too many cases to deal with. This is part of a Python script I use to show the current C...

Temp controlled Rpi fan code

Hey peeps, I'm in the progress of making a mod to my RPi case with fan. Fan specs: 5v, 0,20mA Manufacturer instructions were to connect red cable to 5v and the black cable to ground but since it's not recommended and causes too much fan noise I'm going to use a transistor and some python programming...

Thanks for the replies, anybody knows why VLC can't use Raspberry Pi's GPU acceleration and why its latest version is not included in repos and why it can't play even basic files? VLC's interface is very good and it's a feature packed player I use in my Windows based media computer. It would be grea...

I installed boinc manager and seti at home package using apt-get and everything seemed to work fine, seti@home works are downloade...

You can try OMXPlayerGUI which is included with "Minimal Kiosk Browser" : https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=40860 As to why it is not included by default - perhaps because it is relatively new and has no dedicated repo/website ? ghans Hey, I tried installing, typed these in te...

GUI based video&audio player on Raspbian

Are there any GUI based video player for Raspbian that has hardware acceleration support? If not, why? If yes, why it hasn't been included in the Raspbian Image? I can't launch OMX player from LXDE GUI and typing the path of files on the Terminal is not ideal for daily use. Tried Vlc Player from rep...

Re: Can not set up VNC server to start at bootup

Don't know if you want to try another VNC, but I use x11vnc and have lxde autostart it. I found x11vnc was better for me as I wanted to access the same session as being displayed via HDMI (console 0). Plus, it supports UVNC and TightVNC file transfer. steps: install and set password - sudo apt-get ...

Nope. I used noobs to install Raspbian so there's no need to expand. Raspi-config tells me so.

Apt-get upgrade hangs at Sonic pi package

Hey guys, This is my 3rd try now and in every single case, the process froze and couldn't be completed. I had to reformat my SD card and install Raspbian again... Just for this... LXDE appears different when launched from Terminal

Hey everybody, When I remotely access my Pi via Putty and Xming from Windows, I can only access to Pi's desktop via "startlxde" command. But then LXDE desktop appears different, not what I see when I boot Raspberry Pi with monitor plugged. Lots of widgets disappear etc... Is there any way to run LXD...

Re: Can't turn on the LED

I'm using a 220 Ohm resistor. But it also doesn't work without a resistor. I tried to connect it both ways and it doesn't work. If I connect the + to the 5v from the Pi, and - to ground it lights up. So yes, there's a connection from GPIO (through Ribbon cable) to the breadboard. I believe there's s...
