I understand that omxplayerGUI is in the Kiosk package. Is it also in the Raspbian that I now have installed?

I was copying a videofile from an extern USB hard drive to the desktop at my Raspbian and the screen saver set in and the saving did not work.
Does it go in to sleep mode if I don't touch the mouse or keyboard for 10 minutes?

Is it always necessary to go in to the terminal to watch a video?


simply type in this command in the terminal.

omxplayer -o hdmi /path/to/filename.mp4

As I still have problems with Ubuntu finding the 8GB card I used a windows program to move the Rasbian image to the 8GB card. The Raspberry is now running but how do I watch video?

Since you're a Ubuntu user download the Raspbian IMG (don't download NOOBS) Unzip it Insert your SDCard and look at what /dev/sdX device is created with dmesg command.
