Re: How's this thing work?

After fighting memory card brand related issues to get this camera working, once I have it working, I'm stuck. I can type the commands and get a flash of a preview on the screen, but what's actually happening? Is it actually capturing video or jpegs and storing them somewhere? If so, where? Or, are...

Re: GStreamer 1.0

I too have GPU_men set to 128. Do you have any virtual memory setup?. I was just using the 2013-02-09-wheezy-raspbian image updated, upgraded and with rpi-update run on it. Here's a vmstat: pi@raspi1 ~ $ vmstat procs -----------memory---------- ---swap-- -----io---- -system-- ----cpu---- r b swpd f...

But, compiling gst-libav fails due to lack of memory.

This is on the 512MB pi too!

I guess other people must have some sort of virtual memory setup to do this.
No. I compiled gst-libav yesterday on a Pi with 512MB memory with gpu_mem set to 128

Have you tried a Google search on that error message?

Re: From Pi to Pi camera streaming

Assuming I past the two command lines right, there should be at least some data traveling between the Pi's and netstat should reveal it, right ?? Wich tests should I perform to get closer to the origin of the problem ? (beside looking myself in the mirror). If there was any data passing between the...

I was playing with the camera, moved it a bit and suddenly the red light keeps being on using raspistill with no image taken :( All that happens is that an empty jpeg file is created and the program hangs. The only way to get the light out is a reboot. raspivid same story, creates a 1 kB file. Poss...

Did you do mkfifo buffer? Other than that your command lines look identical to those that I'm using successfully as far as I can see.

Nice concept, it needs to include a small enclosure for the camera module itself I think. Good point :-). I’ve set up RTP streaming from Arch Linux to Ubuntu Linux using Gstreamer. . I don't suppose you'd feel up to sharing how to install gstreamer, would you? Is it as complicated as I've been reading? Defiant has created some packages for installing GStreamer 1.0. See here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/...

Is this about forcing students to write pseudocode or suggesting it? Both, I suppose :? It's like anything else, sometimes it's useful, and sometimes it's not required. If I'm coding I don't use it as I normally visualise what it is that I'm going to be doing in my head before I code. However if I'...

I received my PiCamera today. Very happy, but the white cardboard box (inside a bubble-envelope) was crushed by UPS. Therefore the ribbon cable had a sharp nick when it came out of the box. It's working fine, but the cable is weakened at that spot. My suggestion is to either use a better box or put...

Mine has just arrived and wasn't even in a jiffy bag, but in a self sealing grey plastic bag. Both the folder are inside /usr :-- usr/arm-linux-gnueabihf/bits/ usr/linux/ /usr/include is the standard path to search for the include directories. Does compiler search for directory & subdirectories inside /usr/include also :?: I believe so. See http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/cpp/Search-Path.html...
