Re: Mosfet

Can anyone link me to a MOSFET that works with the Raspberry Pi? Choosing a MOSFET for use with the PI is like choosing any transistor (or other electrical component) for use with the PI. It depends entirely on the requirements of the project. Biasing a FET is somewhat different than biasing a junc...

Marcus, This is bare metal programming. There is no kernel for the folks in this part of the forum, they are using their RPis like Arduinos. Doh ! Thanks, Dougie. I'm flying along and 'almost always' forget to look at the discussion category... dang, I've got to stop that ! Have a great day ! marcus

Re: LED Toggle As Fast As Possible

The difficulty is that the Raspberry PI is not a micro-controller; unlike the pyboard, arduino, &c. ... the operating system kernel of the Raspberry PI is interferring with the code you're trying to compare. There are hundreds of processes running on the PI. When the scheduler swaps out tasks (each...

Re: A Beowulf cluster of Raspberry pi 3s as a desktop?

The inter-processor speeds of the beo-cluster PIs is not fast enough... and each PI really does not have enough memory for the setup. But, I would encourage you to setup the cluster anyways... its a great experiment, and fun too. Something you might consider for desktop PC, is to use one of the mach...

Re: Teacher desktop share to students

Install tightvncserver on the server side of pinet. ... when you setup the passwords be sure to setup a view only password (the server setup will prompt you for this). On your student side PIs install xtightvncviewer; assuming each PI has a display... each student PI can 'share' the teachers desktop...

You're probably missing one of a couple of items: ... either your default gateway is incorrect, or missing, or your nameserver entries are incorrect in /etc/resolv.conf, or your nameservers are down. Use sudo route to see if your wlan0 is the default gateway, and that the entry is correct. Sometimes...

Because its the proper way to get root permissions temporarily. I've been around for a while and I know all that... But you don't need root permissions for lsmod and lsusb. Does it hurt ? ... if not, why bother with the point. In fact, under some circumstances, both of those commands may need root ...

Greetings: I used the dtoverlay = pi3-disable-bt Some time later I commented out the overlay in /boot/config.txt and rebooted. When the machine came back up the hcitool would not find the device. Also, the bluetoothctl commands (power on, scan on, &c) returned an error about the default controller n...

If I click on the wifi icon, i do not have any options to set SSID/passphrase. Yes, that's correct. If you see the SSID (network) that you wish to connect to then click it to connect... the manager will prompt you for the passphrase... If you have done something on your router like enable mac addre...

Sometimes when things don't start automatically its a timing issue... things trying to start too early.

... you might try putting the rotation stuff in your .profile so that it runs when you logon.

You're trying to make things more complicated than they need to be... ... in Raspbian you don't need to screw around with the network interfaces, nor the wpa_supplicant, nor anything else manual... it will just work... open up the network manager, select your wlan0, pick your network, enter the pass...

VNC and SSH are two completely different animals; the first (virtual network computing) allows you to control the PI from your PC using tightvnc viewer. The second allows you to control your PI from your Windows desktop using putty (an SSH, secure shell, client for windows). Not to confuse you, VNC ...
