Has anybody tried this to extend Pi Cameras?

I know about using the dual Cat5 cables, but I just stumbled across an old round D-sub 25 parallel 10' cable that used to run a laser printer. 25 tiny discrete wires already broken out to gridded pins in a very flexible cable a bit smaller than the average pencil. Also, my cable is old enough that t...

Hi again-
Just wondering about the file size in your /tmp directory; and your 'errorvid' has no imagery at all, but is 'playing'...

Can you shorten recording time, and get any other modes working?

Ygles, if you really need HD, you might want to return that camera board, and exchange it for the newest model. It uses the Sony IMX219 8 Megapixel sensor, photos & specs here:

PiSupply just sent me an email saying the new 219 board is in stock ; current cost is U$ 38.49 and there are a lot of photos & technical details here: https://www.pi-supply.com/product/raspberry-pi-camera-board-v2-1-8mp-1080p One thing I haven't found is whether the mounting holes are in exactly the...

Thanks for the reply, Paulie;
my concern was being unsure that removing ninja with purge wouldn't remove some 'dependencies' that other programs had previously installed for their own benefit.

Re: Do I need more than one RPi?

Be sure to learn how to clone your cards; as you go along, you kinda fine-tune the basic system to your liking, and then build on that, especially with added applications. I put little dots with a pointy paint marker on the ridge end of the microSD cards to tell them apart; and I find there is a big...

I was trying for ninja-ide , but accidentally installed ninja ; an entirely different program which describes itself in apt-cache search as "Privilege escalation detection system for GNU/Linux". It seems to be running in the background using :? 'default' settings, otherwise now invisible... What doe...

Geez, I didn't even attack you and you are wounded. I come from usenet, social skills weren't needed there, but come on, you are being too sensitive. OK, a word or few ... according to PiJuice's Kickstarter survey, something like 85% of Pi's are owned by 'adult' techie types. I'd say the percentage...

What about all those Android apps for Pi?

I was browsing around the Google PlayStore because when I'd looked for a Kodi remote there, I noticed several other Raspberry Pi apps for ssh and such. There are quite a few there, and it made me wonder if any are recommended by you guys here. (It also made me wonder why Android, as a close relative...

Best overall Text Editor for learning Python, etc?

Hi guys, I was checking out a beginner's Python vid (one-stop programming), https://youtu.be/cpPG0bKHYKc & they mentioned that IDLE wasn't the best tool to use for various reasons, recommending Notepad++, but I guess that only runs on that other OS. I've heard good things about nano, and there seems...

What about a Pi Camera Photo Contest?

Hi, I was wondering about all the photos that Pi camera users have been taking. There's lots of techtalk here in the Camera Board arena; but if you know the work of folks like Ansel Adams, you'd also know that the Pi camera is a far more capable imaging machine than pretty much any of his film camer...

Re: [request] high fps camera

Do you actually need a camera image? I don't clearly get what you are wanting to do, but you could get very high speed reactions using a simple optical sensor* which'd be binary ( ie blue = on, anything else = off) and even use that to trigger the camera if needed. If you can control the reflected l...

I have a similar if more generic question for coding folks who have 20/20 hindsight: of the 3 'easy' scripting languages frequently used around here: Bash, Python, and Perl... ... which order should a novice learn them in, or should you try to learn them all at once? Some days my brain hurts
