Re: Multiple SPI togheter

SPI talks to slave devices using chip select. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/97/SPI_three_slaves_daisy_chained.svg/363px-SPI_three_slaves_daisy_chained.svg.png The RPI has two native chip select pins CE0 on GPIO8 and CE1 on GPIO7. But with current bcm2835 driver you can use a...

Re: SPI devices (LCD, nRF24L01) NOT working together

Is the display a real SPI device or are you just bitbanging the GPIOs connected to it.
That would explain why the sensor fails to work.

Re: RPI 2B can't load sketch to Arduino Pro Mini

GRN stands for green and should be reffered to the green end of the FTDI board. But you're right this is confusing.
However I'm glad it finally worked.

Re: RPI 2B can't load sketch to Arduino Pro Mini

Let's first try to get the USB-UART methode running: If you have a 5V arduino you must connect the 5V pin to VCC. Are you sure you have a 3V3 arduino ? However the correct wiring should be: FTDI -> Arduino Pro Mini prog header ============= DTR -> GRN (Reset) RX -> TX TX -> RX 3V3 ->VCC (If you have...

Re: RPI 2B can't load sketch to Arduino Pro Mini

I told you in UP that your DTR code has some errors. That's why it doesn't work.
For the USB-Serial bridge it should work out of the box. Only thing I can imagine is that you did a wiring error. That's why I suggested that you post a photo of your setup.

Re: RPI 2B can't load sketch to Arduino Pro Mini

So again you want to flash the bootloader on your Arduino Pro Mini using an Arduino UNO as ISP programmer? I thought you want be able to upload sketches using uart. I you want to do it with RPi fix the DTR-Code as I suggested above. If you want to use an USB-Serial bridge you only have to choose the...

Re: RPI 2B can't load sketch to Arduino Pro Mini

In your code def reset(): pin = 36 GPIO.setup(pin, GPIO.OUT) GPIO.output(pin, GPIO.HIGH) time.sleep(0.12) GPIO.output(pin, GPIO.LOW) You define reset pin=36. If 36 is meant to be the J8 pin numbering this would be Pin36=GPIO16 and not 22 for Reset. But you did set GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BCM) what means t...

RPi Zero composite video out

As I want to add composite video output to my RPi Zero, I was wondering if the tv pins are directly connected to the tvdac pins of the BCM2835 or is there already something like a switching diode in between?

Ok put the bootloader back to the A328p using ISP with avrdude Then download the arduino IDE. http://www.circuitstoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/select_port1.png Select under Board: Arduino UNO Select under Port the RPi uart port: Make sure you did Step 3 (Link the Serial port to the Arduino ID...

Re: RPI 2B can't load sketch to Arduino Pro Mini

Are you programming the AVR through the RPi SPI (ISP) pins or UART?
With ISP you flash the whole chip -> overwrite the bootloader
With UART you need to choose that option in the IDE

Re: RPI 2B can't load sketch to Arduino Pro Mini

To upload sketches using uart you must have a (arduino) bootloader pre loaded to your atmega328. That's why all arduino boards come preloaded with it. Using ISP does not need a bootloader and you can use the whole flash memory for your program. You can also burn the arduino bootloader using ISP (SPI...

Re: PiZero Ethernet pHAT

Yes I think also those changes are good. We must only consider if we keep the ethernet on those pins or move it to other GPIOs for CE and/or reset. That would make it compatible with other SPI HATs , SPI display or SD1 SDIO devices etc. The miscap overlay could then easily be changed... For the audi...

Re: Adding ethernet to Raspberry PI Zero

What I find good about this Ethernet Cap is that it has a proper regulated power supply from RPI's 5V output protecting RPI's 3.3V circuit from overloading. Probably this could also be nice if added to miscap ;)

Here is the DT overlay I've made to enable SPI0 with additional CS on GPIO 5,6 SPI ethernet and PWM audio. So no longer wiring pi is needed to set PWM on GPIO 12,13. Re: PiZero Ethernet pHAT

Thanks to clear this up. :) So without adding a mux for the data line this would not work.
Back to SPI1 solution.... :(
PS:
Perhaps it would be easier to use SPI1 for the light control so no specific driver is needed.

Re: PiZero Ethernet pHAT

ok thanks for the infos ;) What I wanted to point out is that even if you don't use the CE_0 line the software can differ between the devices. If QLC+ uses SPI0.0 it will drive CE_0 low even if its not connected. And the enc28j60 module will only communicate if CE_2 is low. SPI0.0 : Used by QLC+ (OL...

Re: PiZero Ethernet pHAT

QLC+ is a multi-platform software and there is very little Raspberry specific code in it. Currently there is some Raspberry Pi interfaces in it and the SPI is created in a way that you need no interface chips between the Raspberry Pi and the RGB panels. The interface has only the clock and the MOSI...

Cool idea to use a Pi for sound effects. When I had my band years back there was no RPi and we used an old Pentium2 with a high end ISA soundcard ;) Will have to test if there's no way of volume control for PWM audio. I had also a look at the cirrus logic audio card. But in my opinion it uses too mu...

Re: PiZero Ethernet pHAT

You're welcome. Best thing would be to test the audio output on different amplifiers. How was the quality on the guitar amp? Were there a lot of distortions ? Re: PiZero Ethernet pHAT

Yeah looks good :)
I had a quick look at the schematics and saw that you did not include a driving buffer for the PWM audio like on B+ and B2.
I suggest to include that for the final miscap version for better audio quality .
