GateOne - Web based/client less SSH server

There are a few pages describing on how to do this, but I thought I would document the process I used (As well as setting up a CA SSL key, and not using the default self signed key) which will hopefully help some people getting it up and running on their Pi. A web based SSH server allows you to SSH ...

eth0: unexpected urb length?

I'm running a Pi with a wireless usb dongle and trying to resolve some intermittent crashing problems with my C code. In the messages log I am seeing the following 2 errors appearing which don't look good: smsc95xx 1-1.1:1.0: eth0: unexpected urb length 0 reBoot Crash terminate-all-tasks(E) memory-f...

Re: Samba stops working

Check out this link to remove the printer errors. http://www.sotechdesign.com.au/samba-log-showing-error-failed-to-retrieve-printer-list/ The samba log file should hopefully give you some idea as to why its stopped working. Where are you connecting to the shares from? Have you tried using smbclient ...

Re: USB hub not working

Have you tried plugging in the keyboard and booting up? If it detects it when you plug it in it should work.

I also found if you plug the keyboard in after the boot it doesnt work.

I'm assuming if you plug the keyboard in directly it works. Got another hub you can try?

Re: Backing Up SD Card?

What he said. I also run a full backup (create a img file) with the below script which I found on the forums here: I think I might have added a mod or two. It creates a img file and then transfers it to my linux server via a nfs mount. I've uncommented the tar lines as the compression doesnt safe mu...

Re: File transfer speed

When you are copying from the SD card to the HDD the limiting factor is the read speed of the SD card. What class card do you have?

Re: after boot, Pi connects to IP addresses

Port 123 is NTP.

The Pi sync's with a time server on the internet at regular intervals so it always has the correct time set.

Re: SD Card when trying to boot NOOBs

Don't give up - its super easy to get the pi going, you are just having some setup problems. Once the sd card has been formatted and you put it in the PC you wont see the whole 8GB - its supposed to be like that. The SD card wont be ruined, you can just repartition and reformat if you like. Is there...

Re: power and cooling

If you are going to connect a few devices to the Pi then you will have to use a usb powered hub. The pi doesnt provide enough power by itself to power a few devices. The pi is also very fussy when it comes to usb devices - have a look here: http://elinux.org/RPi_Powered_USB_Hubs For heatsinks - I ha...

Re: splitting voltage to < 3v3 after sensor

Why do you want to split it down?

The hall effect needs 5V to run (4.5 - 5.5V)

3.3V Would no be enough to run chip. I would then also use the 5V to power the MCP3008.
