Pi not booting

Both of them refuse to boot. The red light comes on but no green light. If i take the SD card from my raspbmc an...

Re: Colors in putty

Thanks for all the tips. Its odd, but its just started working. I did change the timezone and hosrname and there were a few reboots so am not sure if that fixed it, but I have all the colors back. Putty'ing from Win8 to wheezy (the latest version, all patches installed) Update: Ahhh...figured it out...

Thanks - upstart did the trick. That was easy :)

This also helped me out.:

Running bash script as a service?

I've got a simple bash script that runs and every minute it posts data to the internet, so the script runs in a loop.

What is the easiest way to run this as a service so the script auto starts when the pi boots up?

I had to mod the script and add in sudo commands at various places to get it working.

Full backup while running?

I know you can remove the SD card, put it in a windows machine and run win32diskimager to do a full backup of the SD Card.

Is there a way to do a full backup while the pi is running. I would like to schedule a backup once a week of my pi while its running. Is this possible?

Re: Pi keeps crashing after latest patches

Ok - its not my pi. The 512mb version also crashed. Rebooted - SD corrupt.

Going to try a new SD card. Weird how it was all working perfectly for months before I updated :(

Re: Pi keeps crashing after latest patches

I think its set to medium OC.

Interesting enough I've swapped over to my spare pi - the 512mb model and since then its been stable.

Hope my original pi is not giving up the ghost :(

Re: Pi keeps crashing after latest patches

I ran all the updates again and restarted the pi - after a few hours it crashed again.

As after every crash now the fs is corrupt.

When I did a gpu firmware update is this written to a rom? Could this have broken my pi for good?

Re: Pi keeps crashing after latest patches

I'll try and rerun the update and see if anything is upgraded.

I also ran a gpu update: "sudo rpi-update"

Pi keeps crashing after latest patches

I've been running my pi with sickbeard and sabnzbd for a few months now without any problems. The other night I decided to run a update on the pi by running "sudo apt-get update"" and "sudo apt-get install" After that I did a full backup of my SD card. Luckily I did because at least every 2 days now...

Re: Ethernet flapping problem

I've got a 8GB Class 10 Sandisk.

The device was powered off my servers USB port. Its weird how it just started happening after a few months of operation.

I did do an update a week or two ago though.

I've now powered the device off a main USB charger - will let you know if it does it again.

Re: USB Powered mains plug?

Problem solved. I used my HTC cable and it works fine. I then tried 2 cables I got off ebay (which work fine with my phone) I measured the voltage at the 5V point and it was 4V. The crappy usb cables must have a higher resistance - cheap cable! I've chopped the cable off and used some decent multico...

Telnet resolves a different IP?

Got a strange one. Been having problems with sabnzdb connecting to news servers and it looks like a resolution issue on the pi.
