Re: night mode

You have to provide a file name, like:

Code: Select all

raspistill -ex night -o myimage.jpg

BTW, is there a reason that the video is more contrasty than either the preview or the saved jpegs?

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

I seem to have the same, although I'm struggling a bit from the start so I think I have some sort of power problem. Anyway the banding has gone for no apparent reason.

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

It means that the program raspimjpeg, which interfaces with the camera, has ended. This would happen, as an example, if you use the webpage with the camera running and then start raspistill or raspivid from the command line. If you reboot the Pi it should work again.

I had that happen when my USB stick was not mounted properly. There's no warning. See this page and scroll down to Adding USB storage en the item below it: http://elinux.org/R-Pi_NAS

Re: Long exposures

I think that was recently added, exactly to prevent your problem for needing scripts changing from day to night. Did you update?

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo rpi-update
Last time I tried -ex night (without -ss) gave me the 1 sec exposure.

Re: Long exposures

The camera works out exposure by taking frames and examining them. If you want good exposure with the first frame you need to know the correct exposure and use -ss and -ISO (full manual). For auto exposure you need a minimum of -t 500/750 in good light and fast shutter speeds, more if the shutter sp...

Re: Raspberry Pi Camera Board with CS mount Lens

BTW, here's a solution to the problem from a company that has a system developed for it. There's a good explanation of the problem after the following link and they basically solve it by applying UV-curing adhesive, then straightening the lens/sensor combination and last curing the adhesive with UV ...

I updated the installer, so logging for cam_pic.php and for status_mjpeg.php (reloaded all 3 seconds by website to get status) is disabled now. Just download and run the installer again to get the result. Thanks, jbeale for the instructions! Great you're 'alive and kicking'. Any chance 'true manual...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Can you try changing to -ex night and the start/stop the video? I had several occasions where that suddenly made -ex night active. Saw the earlier post suggesting this and have just tried again, but it doesn't work for me. OK, then it has probably to do with my 'phone' implementation of the website...

You can control ISO and shutter speed with raspistill (not sure about raspivid) but I don't think these are implemented in raspimjpeg.

Re: Raspberry Pi Camera Board with CS mount Lens

Couldn't the designers of the unofficial camera replicate this by using a modified version of the original mount, but without the lens and with the surface of the mount "shaved" away where the lens was originally mounted (to create a wider opening)? This would help replicate the original factory to...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

I don't think that's the reason as the scaling is done in the GPU which is quite fast. Larger images take more bandwidth so will be less smooth. But I had fairly good results with 1920x1080. To change it edit /etc/rc.local with:

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/rc.local
and reboot.

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

What happens when you start and stop the video? This might sound strange, but, using my phone web page over WiFi, when I change WB to 'Sun' nothing happens although when I change 'Contrast' to 100 it works. If I then start the video suddenly the WB is changed to 'Sun'. This might be due to the WiFi ...

@Phenom55 - Yes you can stream to a phone via a browser. Use the index2.html version modified by poing above. Note it's experimental... if you tap the image it will record an image but if either video recording or motion is active it will end raspimjpeg instead and you'll have to restart the Pi. Ea...

I tested with a battery that has a 2A output and the result was the same. Then a changed to a model A with the same power supply as before, same camera, same SD card and all is well 18 hours later. So it's definitely my model B that has issues. Strange, because I used it since the camera board came ...

Re: Damage if using 4xAA NiMH?

And yes I was exaggerating about the 1.2V thing; they are close to that most of the time, but the peaks can be much higher. To my understanding the nominal voltage of batteries is the voltage when discharged. 1.5V regular AA cells have a higher voltage when fresh and 12V lead batteries have a typic...
