Pi-Portable & or Monitor.

PiPortable.jpg PiGuts.jpg Hi Pi People, :-) I had some bits and pieces lying around, which I've kept over the years because they 'could be useful' mainly a nice LCD screen from a dead laptop, but also a miniature hard drive from a portable music player and of course a Pi. So I decided to build a Pi...

Re: Accelerated x driver?

Hi neobusy,
I don't believe a standard update will do it, you need to see this thread. http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 17#p467617 This is what I've done to an old standard Raspbian install and it's working fine. :-)

Re: Experimental enhanced X driver (rpifb)

Hi ssvb & hglm. Thanks for all your hard work :-) I've installed your driver on a standard install of Raspbian and can definitely see a speed improvement, especially to dragging windows around. I was one of the people who was testing Simons Accelerated X driver, so I've reproduced some of the scenar...

Re: No menu/desktop shortcuts

Hi,
It appears that once you have run Mathmatica from the command line as above, a short cut will appear in the app launcher under the 'Education' menu item. I now have one and I didn't put it there. ;-)

This is the way I've always run my Pi and it works fine, it also makes it faster in operation.

Re: Accelerated X driver testing

The catch in this scenario maybe was that switching from true to false was done without a reboot. Just killed the Xorg and then restarted. I did not even unload/reload the kernel module. Maybe that made the difference? Simon? Hi Diereinegier, Yes I always do a complete stop, I even quit out of gdb ...

Hi Diereinegier,
Do you really mean setting "SelfManagedOffscreen" to "true" here? When I set this to "false" it removes all my screen corruptions, when I set it "true" they all come back.

Re: Accelerated X driver testing

PS. I've just added another picture of Midori, as a new problem has appeared, again intermittently, but roughly half the time, I'm getting a random pixel pattern on half of the "Post a New Topic" button, again this happens as I scroll the page up and down. Hi Simon, I've done an apt-get upgrade and an rpi-update. Re: Accelerated X driver testing

Hi Simon, I did do a rpi-update on about the 12th, this was to specifically get the changes you told us about, to do with the bcm_mailbox it didn't make any obvious difference. I do have the CPU speed and temp displayed on the task bar, no sounds though, I can try turning them off, but some corrupti...

Re: Accelerated X driver testing

I just gave the render_bench a shot: The zip contains results for the Raspi named crumb running render_bench with the display either at crumb or on kriecher. kriecher is a fast PC running Xming. Despite the fact that Xming renders in software (afaik) it is twice as fast - on a i7-2600 that is... Wo...

Re: Accelerated X driver testing

Sorry for the delay guys, busy/sick/snow/work etc. I've been hunting for bugs in the VPU code but just can't find them. Some of the firmware commits may fix some of these corruption bugs, but I need to get back into things to be sure! Also based on other reports the self managed memory does have ed...

Re: Two XBMC (.deb) compiled/prepared for users + instructio

Hi Kevin, hmm, did you try with "clean" 2012-12-16-wheezy-raspbian.img image? otherwise do you have taglib installed, if I remember correct you can see if it is installed with: dpkg --list Tomaz. Hi Tomaz, I checked and taglib is already installed. So I un-installed it with 'sudo apt-get --yes purg...

Hi Tomaz, No I haven't compiled my own version of taglib, I have now tried renaming it, which worked fine, but I get exactly the same error as I got before when I try to install, I'm thinking of manually unpacking the .deb file and placing all the files in their correct places, will that work? unles...

Re: Accelerated X driver testing

Hi Simon, Netsurf V2.9 Feb 27th 2012. For comparison, I have tried the same images in the Image viewer built into Raspbian, that doesn't have a problem, but is very slow scrolling around the image. I have also loaded a large image into Midori, that also does not have a problem, is marginally faster ...

Cheers Kevin - again the help is much appreciated! I'm still having trouble repro-ing the thing with the partially corrupt image. Is there a set of minimum steps to do? Hi Simon, So basically a very badly coded page then, there is absolutely no reason for the pictures to need to have a 3D Transform. :-( I wonder what Chromium is managing to do to avoid the problem, maybe it's just ignoring the 3D transforms? I've tried it again, using your drivers and it's reasonab...

Hi Simon, The image is just a large jpg in my /home/pi/ directory, being viewed in Netsurf, I've tried several and it's always the same, so I'd imagine any large jpg should do it.
