Re: RPi as an AP keeps on disconnecting

AFAIAN you can't bridge between two WiFi interfaces on a Pi (but maybe something changed recently???)

So the question is how does it work for 20 minutes rather than why it fails

Re: Running 28BYJ-48 stepper motor in full step mode

JFI this article seems a good source of info on pros/cons on the stepping modes http://www.jangeox.be/2013/10/stepper-motor-28byj-48_25.html The value for money of these steppers means you can make very cheap robots that can move much more accurately, albeit slower, than PWM motor ones. I've used th...

Re: Running 28BYJ-48 stepper motor in full step mode

In half-step mode with long delays between phases its quite a while since I played with these steppers but IIRC, there are sweet spots in terrms of the delay between the steps - longer delays does not necessarily lead to happiness I might be completely wrong but 1-2.5ms comes to mind between steps ...

JFI
I have copied the file into ~/lircd.conf
All my files are in /etc/lirc

Probably makes no difference - like I say - I set mine up a few years ago and things may have changed since then

Re: Raspian 9 - question with lirc

I am using NP2222 Something in the back of my mind says that if using a driver transistor - you need to invert the signal using some parameter somewhere. But googling isn't getting me anywhere and I may have dreamt it (I just have my IR diode directly connected to my PiZero - very naughty I know bu...

Re: MQTT send alert

May i have some help please? From what you previosuly posted, your broker is working fine on your Pi so lets try it out step by step and be explicit e.g use the example launcher.conf first and see if you get any errors with that So copy mqtt-launcher.py to /home/pi/mqtt-launcher.py copy launcher.co...

Does anyone else have any idea as to what might be going on here ??
Might be time to try and find an ESP32 forum now that its probably not Pi related?

You might find others with the same/similar issue?

Re: RPI WiFi / Mqtt communication with Arduino ESP32 unreliable

Mine just says LOLIN32 V1.0.0 and has ESP-WROOM-32 written on the actual ESP32 sub-board.

Maybe that ESP32s and your WiFi just don't play nicely with each other?

Re: RPI WiFi / Mqtt communication with Arduino ESP32 unreliable

Mine is a WEMOS LOLIN32

Has worked fine today(publishing to a mosquitto broker on a PiZero) - worst I've seen is occasional 2.5 secs between messages instead of 1 sec

I don't get any wifi dropouts at all and I'm suspecting that the WiFi situation on yours is the culprit

Re: RPI WiFi / Mqtt communication with Arduino ESP32 unreliable

I just ran you code on an WEMOS D1 mini (ESP8266 based) and changing #include <WiFi.h> to #include <ESP8266WiFi.h> and Serial.print((char)payload); to Serial.print((char)payload[i]); It runs OK according to a Node-Red monitor - the count goes up regularly each sec How long do you normally have to wa...

Re: RPI WiFi / Mqtt communication with Arduino ESP32 unreliable

Just to get more info, can you change to 1 msg/2sec then 1msg/5sec then 1msg/10secs and see if your getting the same sort of 30 sec delay to see if its some sort of buffering issue?

Are you doing anything in your main loop that could be blocking the pubsubclient from running?

Re: Pi Zero W ignoring dhcpd.conf

If you take your card from your Pi3B+ and put it into your PiZeroW - does it work?

Also, you need to modify dhcpcd.conf to assign static addresses not dhcpd.conf (notice extra c in the name)

As with all things its probably possible but I think if someone had done this, it would be widely known about in the Pi community - and I've not heard of it or seen anything posted about it

You can use an IPad as a remote VNC display over WiFi

My Win10 machine updated itself overnight and since then I've been able to use hostnames to VNC and file transfer using SMB again

But I've had false dawns several times since April/May so lets see how long it lasts this time :)

Does that mean that B also have to need to run a client? Yes Both machines act as clients - one sends message to the broker, the other one receives them You can run the broker on either machine or a completely different machine To start with, its much easier to use a public cloud broker such as iot...

Re: MQTT and Python

It can be confusing :) You need at least one server program (commonly called a broker) that both machines can connect to Then Raspberry A can send the ON/OFF to the broker and the broker will forward those messages to Raspberry B. So both machines are clients The broker can run on any of the Pi or o...

Re: Connect to VNC server using hostname?

This has been an issue since about April

The theory at the time is that it was due to bug introduced into the MS win10 spring update.

After trying a load of things, I gave up and just went back to using ip addresses

It can be a bit intermittent and sometimes works (but then fails again)

Now, you might just have made two typos in your post
