What is the difference between LXDE and LXDE-pi

Hello all, I was reading up the docs about how to autostart scripts on the raspberry pi and I saw the posts where we can insert a line in /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE However, only inserting the appropriate line in /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi works for me. So could someone explain what is the difference b...

Re: Watchdog for Pi2

I often wondered how a software daemon would respond if the Pi actually crashed, because surely the daemon would die with it ? The software sets up the hardware watchdog, then kicks it every now and then to say it is still alive. If it misses a kick the hardware doggie barks ;) Is there a way to te...

Ok, so it was definitely the micro-sd card. I loaded another one and its working. Canakit is sending a replacement.

Now on the second day, I tried to boot up the RPi but it wouldn't do so. I took out the micro-sd card and put it in my lapto...

Re: Can the RPi be kept always-on? any standby mode?

Thanks everyone for your answers. I guess I could just leave it on. I am surprised that a timed-standby is not supported, since I assumed that would be part of this linux kernel, just like any other linux kernel. A follow-up: I bought the Pi tru the Canakit, and it came with a heatsink. They say its...

Can the RPi be kept always-on? any standby mode?

Hello, I just got my first raspberry pi B+ board and I love it. I tried searching the forum for this, but didn't find any relevant thread. Can the RPi be kept always-on? Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there any configurable standby/hibernate mode for the SoC/board? If so, can someone ...
