Re: Clean Pixel installation has date/time, ssh, https broke

Hmm, I guess the card or power supply is not an issue. It does seem odd the way the clock is wrong, I do find sometimes my RPI2 can lose 10 minutes or so, but usually a quick sudo /etc/init.d/ntp stop sudo ntpd -q -g sudo /etc/init.d/ntp start fixes it to the correct time, my RPI2's are using wired ...

Re: RealVNC vs tightvncserver

The wifi setting persists across a reboot, the Bluetooth doesn't. This is a bug - we've got a fix for it, but I'm not sure if we've pushed it into apt yet. Try a "sudo apt-get update" followed by a "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" on your clean Jessie image - that will pull in a whole bunch of tweaks an...

What memory card are you using? I've had issues with certain card causing crashes and kernel panics, was fixed by using a Sandisk Ultra or Samsung EVO card and no crashes since (touch wood).

Re: RealVNC vs tightvncserver

Just put a clean Jessie install on a spare Pi3, and I'm liking it so far. I really like being able to to turn the Bluetooth and Wifi on from the menu bar. Is there a way of making the ON/OFF setting for BT and Wifi persistent? So than if I turn off Wifi and BT, then reboot, they'll still be turned o...

Does the Ethernet and USB share the same bus on the RPI 3?

I'm looking into making a Transparent Caching Proxy for my LAN, I'll probably use squid, it doesn't have to be very fast as my internet speed is rather slow, so want to try it using a RPI as it's silent and uses very little power, and will be on 24/7. I'll be using the inbult ethernet port and a USB...

If you don't mind using another OS, try OSMC, which is based on Raspbian, install the twitch plugin and it streams anything up to 1080p smoothly.

Rasbian lite will fit on a 2GB card, if you want to get it up and running while you wait for a larger card to arrive.

Re: ADB needs sudo on Raspbian Light but not with full Rasbi

I manage to fix this in this end, turns out is was the UDEV rules blocking the USB ports. I used the method on this page: http://linux-tips.org/t/fixing-android-adb-devices-unauthorized-problem/254 I had to do a reboot before the phone was detected. Kind of odd that Full Raspbian works without even ...

ADB needs sudo on Raspbian Light but not with full Rasbian

I have 2 x Pi 2's. Let's call them Pi A and Pi B to avoid confusion. Pi A is running full Raspbian installed using NOOBS, fully up to date. After installing ADB (sudo apt-get -y install android-tools-adb) and connecting my phone it works fine and detects my phone after rebooting the pi: pi@pia:~$ ad...

Re: Read-error on swap-device

Just a quick follow-up

it turns out the Pi and SD card just didn't get on.

I've tried a Sandisk and Samsung SD card in the same Pi with the same software, and it's been working great ever since, touch wood! No need for read only or remote home folders, everything runs from SD card.

Re: Read-error on swap-device

The only thing I'm having trouble with a read-only system is getting Chromium to run. It creates a hidden user profile directory in the users home folder, and refuses to even start up if the home folder is read-only. I don't quite know what to do now, I could use a USB thumb drive You said it was h...

Re: Read-error on swap-device

Down the rabbit hole we go. After a little research it seems that mounting the SD card in read-only and disabling the swap file is the way to go if you want something more robust and reliable. I have some log files in the program I'm running, but I think I can write these to a NAS instead of the SD ...

Read-error on swap-device

I'm getting this message over the serial cable after leaving my raspberry pi running for some time, and it makes the machine grind to a halt, which is a pain as it's headless and I usually access it using VNC and SSH. The spec is Rpi 2b powered by the Rpi 3 official PSU. Kingston class 10 32gb sd ca...

Re: Unresponsive USB ports

google 'maxusbcurrent' and look into adding it to the config file. I think the RPi2 only outputs ~700mA to the USB ports by default but if you add the line to the config file then it outputs ~1400mA Numbers are off the top of my head so not accurate, but give it a go as I had problems with not enoug...

SD card is not working after a power cut to the RPi

Hi, My Pi was working great until recently I had a power cut while the RPi 3 was running, and not the Pi no longer boots. No problem I thought, I'll reformat the card and do a fresh install. However the "SDFormatter" program in OS X refuses to format the card, and Disk Utility produces an error "Una...

How can I make networking in Jessie behave like Wheezy?

Re: Live streaming with nginx rtmp on a browser

I'm not sure if this is possible, you may be able to to something clever with an iframe, but as far as I know nginx needs to serve the webpage along with the video. Why does the page have to be hosted on another machine? Also I found towolf's tutorial gave me the best results, his version of the rtm...

Re: Live streaming from PiCam

I think Mplayer should do it. Maybe you need to override the playback FPS. I don’t know if VLC can do this. Thanks, I'll give MPlayer a go. Also I've just found that FLV files need a little extra processing before you can seek: Seek does not work with flv files recorded by the module. To make the f...

Re: Live streaming from PiCam

Thanks, yeah you’re using the internal RTMP as well. What I found pretty cool is the record feature in nginx-rtmp-module. So not only can it stream RTMP, it can handle HLS and dumping to another .flv file also. And you can opt to only record keyframes, which means you get a convenient timelapse as ...
