Re: Accessing a Samba share from RISCOS

Yep, there is definitively something wrong here. With correct IP and mask, I have constant and reliable connection to Internet and Windows shares on all my RISC OS computers. RISC OS can also discover all my Windows shares (with correct workgroup name). Do you use a classic RISC OS build or the Noob...

Hum... Did you check the firewall policies? With public networks (or even private ones), file sharing is often unavailable under Windows 7.

Re: Accessing a Samba share from RISCOS

If I remember well, there are two ways to share a resource under Windows 7. The default one (does not work with older OS, or RISC OS), and the advance sharing option, that works with RISC OS.

Re: Making a 58gb sd card from 64gb sd card

To make a RISC OS partition smaller than the disc, you should change the cylinder number with a lower number than the total. Anyway for a flash drive, to change cylinder or head could (should?) have the same effect. Of course, you must be sure to choose the right number of cylinders to free 48 MB (a...

Re: RISC OS Pi Assembly Tutorials.

I must agree that it is fun, very much so. Though I would not call it "the 8-bit way". Yes it is based on Acorn MOS to a large degree, though the API is so much more advanced than that. Of course it is. With 8bit, I mean a framework, not a jail. Today, we must use PMT, system calls, etc. RISC OS is...

Re: RISC OS Pi Assembly Tutorials.

Though mostly I just want to get back to RISC OS. I can not stand these x86 based Operating Systems. I can't agree more :) RISC OS is not really useful (today), but it's fun. It's a 32bit OS the 8bit way. I am thinking that doing everything in the BASIC V assembler may not be the best way around it...

Re: Making a 29gb SDcard using a 32gb SDcard for Risc os(SOL

Just let RISC OS choose the right one and use this value for all your maths things.
Anyway, disc geometry is not the same under RISC OS and Linux. So the best is to make calculation on both with total size in mind.
Nota: last time I tried, the Pi did have serious issues with 64GB cards.

Re: making a 30gb SDcard using a 32gb SDcard for Risc os

Sorry, I'm not sure to understand your question. The file that points to the DOS partition is in !Boot. To make a new DOS partition with the right size is not enough to be pointed by an old DOS file overlay. It should be exactly at the same position on disc too because the file does not point to the...

I not sure you could be right . But wouldn't the original RISC os sdcard have this file already in place Yes, it is. But it now possibly points to another place of the SD Card. It's the main functionality of SystemDisc to make a DOS partition and the file that points to it. An existing DOS file wil...

when !Hform say's click to exit swap over your sdcard with the risc os one Hu, no. With your solution, there is an overlap between SDFS partition and DOS partition. When you'll fill the SDFS partition, the DOS one will be corrupted. Create a Ramdisc and copy !HForm to it. Leave Pinboard, dismount t...

Re: RiscOS: Installing to hard drive

You can't replicate the FAT partition by copying the file present in Boot. You must format a part of the disc with HForm, then create a DOS partition with the rest of the disc under Linux for example. Not an easy task. It seems that you have a hard disc attached to USB. You'll not be able to boot di...

Re: RiscOS: Installing to hard drive

Under a Pi, you must keep a DOS partition for the boot files.
Under RISC OS, you must tell the system that you'll boot on the SD Card (configure sdfs, configure boot, etc.).

Re: RiscOS2 old hdd reading?

The problem is that the Pi will use USB devices as SCSIFS, not ADFS or IDEFS, or something else. One solution could be to find a way to use the disc formatted as FAT/FAT32 under the Archimedes.
