Not sure if anyone has covered this but i was wondering what the processing power and speed is of the Pi if I were to use the Pi to handle 3 forms of biometrics on my project. The biometrics i may use are iris scanner, palm vein and facial recognition. There are at least 8 models of RPi board in th...

Re: Raspbian - boot TK python app after login

Welcome to the Raspberry Pi forums.

The program you are trying to run is an X-windows graphical client. It can't run until an X-windows server is running.

The appropriate place to initiate your program is the configuration file /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart

Re: Can boot Raspian but not other OS's

Is it a case that this OS just wont run on the Pi for some reason Yes. and if so how do I tell which will/wont work? You check a relevant page such as http://puppylinux.com/download.html for any mention of keywords such as 'Raspberry' or 'armhf'. [Hint: there are none.] Also, Raspberry Pi Operating...

For troubleshooting/diagnostic purposes, test with a fresh, unmodified download of the Raspbian Buster Operating System?

Re: Unable to find a Python program to read mlx90615

https://github.com/zerynth/lib-melexis-mlx90615 I tried that.. it imports a library called "streams".. I wasn't able to find it anywhere... It looks as though it is an API that is part of the Zerynth Studio tool. It isn't clear whether this is compatible with Raspbian. https://docs.zerynth.com/late...

Re: Unable to find a Python program to read mlx90615

I need a Python script that could read data form the sensor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. An internet search tool with the string " python mlx90615 " came up with: https://github.com/zerynth/lib-melexis-mlx90615 I don't have such a sensor so I can't comment on whether the code is function...

Re: Why moving to 64bit?

I've been thinking about this thing for a while, and I’m failing to see the advantage moving to a 64 bit OS. The developers, managers and strategists at Raspberry Pi seem to agree with you. Am I the only one who thinks the trend towards 64 bit is a bit unnecessary? See above: you are not alone. (Bu...

Welcome to the Raspberry Pi forums. Just got my first RaspberriPi 3B+ to check out for a Makers Space Club at the middle school where I work. I am a PC Tech and help sponsor the club. I have loaded Ubuntu MATE on a SD card for the 3B+ model. Then I saw the model 4 was just recently released and boug...

In case it's helpful for anyone here, I have lists of all of the packages (and versions) installed on the 2019-06-20 releases of the buster, buster-lite and buster-full images here. Quite so. But likely to be of academic/reference value only, since that June release of Raspbian Buster was supercede...

I'm trying to execute a program in Python 3.7.4, which requires numpy library.

Isn't Python 3.7.4 more recent than the version bundled with the current supported Raspbian Operating System?

Maybe all the pre-installed libraries will need updating correspondingly?

I have no idea how to stop this question from reoccurring. The upstream maintainers made an utterly stupid decision IMO, and we are the ones who have to keep answering for it. It won't stop the question recurring, but perhaps someone could give @mahjong some boilerplate text to add to the Common Pi...

If you are using the desktop it should be as simple as clicking on the wireless icon on the task bar...

But depends on what you are trying to achieve.

OP asked: "I just want to be able to connect to my pi from my laptop via wifi."

Does the wireless icon help with that use case?

Quite interesting: I built up a Raspbian on a Pi4 to autostart a video in fullscreen and some other crap. Now when I plugged it into my Pi 3 B+ it worked on there too like it would on a Pi4! Anyway, I've since wiped out the SD card and didn't really have a chance to contemplate that, but thought it...

The Raspbian root filesystem does not store versions of files.

{Replying here because of the two threads it was the one posted first... }

Raspbian Buster ships with Python 3.7.3

So trying to run v 3.7.2 would represent a downgrade. Why do you need to do that?
