Re: No /etc/rc.conf read during boot

Hello! Just installed FreeBSD on my Raspberry Pi 2 and now I'm facing some issues with starting services at boot. It doesn't matter how I edit my rc.conf (or rc.conf.local). Any way I could track output or any other way to debug this problem? Tried with adding rc_debug="YES" but nothing shows up in...

Re: Raspberry Pi TV

Many thanks for your information.

Is there a preferred USB DVB-S2 receiver?

Re: Installing FreeBSD

Check the output from dmesg to see if the adapter has been recognised...

Also check if FreeBSD supports the card

https://www.freebsd.org/releases/11.0R/hardware.html

There is also the FreeBSD forum which is very helpful:-

Dead RPI

I have an RPi B which worked when I got it some years ago but now doesn't.. The LED does not come on when I switch on the power supply. Is there any way to find out what's wrong?

Re: FreeBSD in RPI and HDD

In case you didn't know there is a FreeBSD image for the Pi, might be worth looking at. :) http://www.raspbsd.org/ Have you used this? Is it set up to ssh into from ethernet and if so what is the default name and password? The normal freebsd image is freebsd freebsd root root and it does allow ssh ...

Re: Installing FreeBSD

I tried various images from:-

http://download.raspbsd.org/

Found one that worked on my RPiB and one on my RPi2. They are running FreeBSD 12.0-CURRENT.

Re: raspi-config

I just fancied a stab at getting the program running under FreeBSD. I realise it is geared towards Raspian, but some of the functions could be useful under FreeBSD. I thought I would get a menu display at least, but nothing...

Size limits

Is there any limit to the size of card which the Pi will recognise? Does it depend of the model or OS? In a few year we will all be using 1TB microSD cards. Will I need to replace my Pi?

raspi-config

I see that raspi-config is on github https://github.com/asb/raspi-config/blob/master/raspi-config Would it be useful having this available on FreeBSD? Presumably I could run it under FreeBSD even though it wouldn't do much... I just got hold of it and tried running 'sh raspi-config' but nothing happ...

Web browser

Hi,

I've only just managed to get FreeBSD installed on a Raspberry Pi, now I want to install a browser.

Any suggestions as to which works best on the limited resources available on the RPi?

Re: Need help with PiFace relays

I want to know how to switch something on like an electric motor or a light, how to wire it up, and how to program it, although I guess I could figure out the last bit.

Eventually I want to create an automated watering system but have no idea as to how to get started.

Need help with PiFace relays

I bought a PiFace digital over a year ago after reading all the hype about how it would "allow you to sense and control the real world". After a year I am still none the wiser about how to control the relays. I'm looking for a simple step by step guide to being able to programatically switch various...

to me it sounds like you want to dig a big hole for ships to sail into!

as for midnight commander, simple!

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install mc
Does that work on FreeBSD?

I presumed that FreeBSD was the topic here, but I'm new here so maybe I'm mistaken...

Unable to build any ports

Has anyone successfully built any port on a Raspberry Pi? I've tried a few but get lots of errors which I don't understand and can't help wondering if I've missed something... When building a port is there normally a buildlog so that I have a record of any error messages generated? I would love to i...
