why on earth does update hang asking if it should overwrite dhcpcd.conf ?

why on earth does update hang asking if it should overwrite dhcpcd.conf ?

should be obvious if dhcpcd.conf is changed it was changed for a reason and unless the programmers have completely broken the syntax of dhcpcd.conf then there should be no question!

Re: Mains Power Monitor TSL2561 based

Hours up: 92.73 Used Kwh: 41.90 Rate Kw: 0.30 Last Trigger: 830 rock solid on esp8266, (except need error blocker code when open door and let the light in....) reckon those two 18650's will do another 10 hours... maybe down to bit low level discharge, I will see. but would not want to control a robo...

I am amazed at how awesome the esp8266 arduino library stuff is.... and thanks to sparkfun for tsl (and other stuff), I owe them a beer or two! why no-one done a hard metal arduino/gcc raspberry pi set of arduino mirror libraries? though for low power esp is good, though thi...

Mains Power Monitor TSL2561 based

Mount the TSL right next to the mains meter flashing light that states how many flashes per unit, usually 1000 per kwh, the best way to mount is recess TSL2561 in a small 3d printed box then stick box over light giving maximum signal to noise ratio for the TSL. update: that's cool, using this on a z...

Re: Power usage meter proof of concept

Though arch python3/linux seems to have real time issues when you need real-time, its a job the yun I have had lying around was waiting to do... just with an analog photosensor on an analog port.... the beaglebone also probably can do it as it has two dedicated io processors.... (could be power to w...

Re: Power usage meter proof of concept

I can confirm a tsl2561 at max gain and shortest integration time mounted right next to the light also gives a very good clear reading on each flash. (when its inside a meter enclosure that is dark when closed.)

Re: Power usage meter proof of concept

not if you have not got them on hand its not, and then got to solder up a board, whereas I have a photosensor on a breakout board, actually, now I mention it, has it got an alarm trigger level on it for digital output from the board.... I'll check that, it might have, can it be set low enough level ...

Power usage meter proof of concept

Hi All just been messing with using the camera to catch pulses on the light on the mains meter and show the usage in kw. Obviously A LOT more fine tuning and averages and totals and error correction/logging but as it is loosely based on an old motion detection thingy originally posted on here though...

Re: mpd, systemd and system V init in Jessie

FYI: the mpd built in web server is excellent, no hassles with running a separate icecast/shoutcast server somewhere, certainly good enough for local multi-room playback, serving a few hundred would want a shoutcast server on a more powerful box probably, and not server sending over wifi LOL. Though...

Re: mpd, systemd and system V init in Jessie

FYI: Actually perhaps all the errors I was getting on raspbian mpd were attributable to an edimax dongle that was also crap under arch, using an Alpha with smallest arial cured the problem, edimax was glitching under arch as well (arch glitching worse than raspbian actually, that could be deauths an...

eventually got arch up and running, from simple observation/listening it seems to sound better/louder and run at less cpu just using stock pacman install mpd, those phatdacs are quite good! mind you not using i2s_mmap and just the most basic asound.conf no dmix a lot missing from a basic arch instal...

I did an apt-get purge mpd that removed the init.d stuff also removed a few directories the config file (from the apt install) which were simple enough to fixed by observing errors, fortunately mpd was running while I did the purge so did not remove all the stuff, but I am going to recompile it with...

mpd, systemd and system V init in Jessie

mpd systemd and system V init in Jessie So I installed mpd from repo and it's a very old version and when streaming it has quite a few nasty bugs so I thought I would compile latest version, so first I did apt remove mpd, with hindsight probably should have done a purge of mpd to get rid of all conf...

Re: rc.local after upgrade to jessie does not work

I am having problems with running either rc.local or @reboot scripts on jessie lite on a pi zero, seems to be something to do with the state of the machine at either @reboot or rc.local in that the machine does not seem to have all the shell user state in place. I am complicating things perhaps by u...

pulseaudio jessie-lite

Spent a while messing trying to get pulseaudio working on jessie lite, a necessity to get over a "feature" present in the pimoroni speakerphat and phatbeat which cause a big click after the dac has gone into idle. pulseaudio has a feature to stop this going idle and that I can get to work. I can get...

Doh! Don't forget Pi2 has spring loaded sd slot and think, this is a bit of a stiff friction fit as you remove the card, as you will surely discover it is spring loaded when you try and put it back in and it does not lock in anymore! Re: 2012 ssh problem reintroduced in jessie lite 20170302

This could happen if you have yanked the power out of the pi during first boot, while the ssh host keys are being generated. yes, thanks! that might explain it then! guess a bit of messing to auto recover on next boot if initial boot script not registered as successful by contents/prescence of some...
