Re: Data Wanted: Failure rate for power cycling

I don't have any real concrete data.. but here is my experience. I have a few webcams that gave me lots of trouble.. so I started working on a UPS with proper shutdown specifically for the PI... but.. as an interim solution I moved all the webcam jpegs, /var/log/ and fake-hwclock.data to a USB stick...

Re: RemotePi & PiCoolfan combo

Hi Dennis, A *cursory* check shows the PiCoolfan uses I2C and the RemotePi uses certain GPIO ports.. I would imagine if they are not on the same pins, things should work if you can connect the pins to the proper board. Power usage may or may not be another issue. Other then that I don't see a proble...

Re: UPS kit for the Raspberry Pi.. what do you think?

Ken, I tested an old (at least a couple years) 9v nimh 250mah battery. I got 27 minutes of battery runtime on a Model B, which had a usb memory stick and a wifi adapter plugged in. These results are encouraging, more then sufficient to shut down a Pi properly. It was pretty much at idle.. but it sho...

Re: UPS kit for the Raspberry Pi.. what do you think?

Hi Ken, I tested several circuits to help with power issues for my webcams.. and I too think a micro is really needed, for proper UPS functions. There are two ADC inputs right now on the design, with the proper voltage dividers, one on the input power and one for the battery, this makes UPS function...

Re: UPS kit for the Raspberry Pi.. what do you think?

I was worried no one would even reply to this post! Thank you for your comments. I haven't gotten much local interest.. I figured someone would want free stuff for their pi! suicidal_orange.. I may expand my beta test candidate search if no one local pops up. I'll keep you in mind, the complete kit ...

UPS kit for the Raspberry Pi.. what do you think?

Hello everyone! On and off during the last several months I have been working on a UPS for the Raspberry Pi. I have recently accelerated work on it.. and just sent out the second prototype PCB to the printers. I figured I would post on the forums here to get some feedback and possibly a few local be...
