Re: help a noob control 8 motors and a sensor

If you want the art installation to be flexible in response to human interaction you could use a Flick panel and use their library to change the installations response based on the gesture used. Available gestures: Swipe (east to west, west to east, north to south, south to north), tap and double ta...

Re: help a noob control 8 motors and a sensor

There is a very common generic Yellow Motor and gearbox that is used in most cheap robots everywhere. You can control two of them from one L298N dual H-bridge motor controller. you'll need some Dupont cables to connect the Pi to the L298N you will need to solder some thicker wire to the motors to co...

Hi LexGamer

It looks like a 25Q40 (the 8 pin chip) is 4M-Bit flash memory, one to the 2 six pin chips must be the voltage regulator.

Re: Detect slot car lap with deadstrip

Yes, as the DC electric motor stops receiving power it will become a dc generator, I wonder if it generates enough to trigger the input of an opto-isolator on its own? Try connecting a pair of LEDs (One each way) to the dead track section and see if either of them light up when a car goes over it. I...

I want to build my own incubator. Could you be a little more specific about what you are trying to do...incubator for what? How big, what temp, how precise? How fast to reach temp? What will it's environment be like? Give your needs/specs some thought before you dive into the project. I'm guessing ...

Re: New to the forum looking for a project

Some of the 8 relay module boards can be incompatible with the Pi (they need 5V logic switching where the Pi only has 3V3). I would suggest a Relay HAT (There are a few varieties around) for ease of connection and a guarantee of operation).

Re: New to the forum looking for a project

I would start with something like this 50 digital addressable LED string (should be possible to find a similar version in the US). Then use adafruit's neopixel library to change the lighting as desired. Connect each string to a different power supply but chain the digital out from one string to the ...

Re: an odd idea

So my first time posting, i got my first pi and was wondering if there is a way i can deconstruct a high-ish capacity flash drive and convert it into on-board memory for my zero w? No. You can however leave the flash drive intact and attach it to the Pi0W by USB. If your flash drive offers other co...

Re: Raising bed to ceiling. need motor advice..

It looks like the hand controller is a standard centered rocker switch, one way for up, the other for down. I would imagine that using a pair of relays to switch the load should be an easy enough modification, I would make sure that you are happy with the manual operation first and consider the pote...

I would concur that you have made all the appropriate connections correctly.

Your supposition that the error is in the board construction seems likely to be correct.

Re: i2cdetect KX224-1053 accelerometer

according to the spec your accelerometer should appear at address 3e or 3f (depending on the user set bit). The chip is able to use either i2c or spi communication, does the breakout board allow an spi connection? You could try to communicate using that as well. It's going to be hard to offer any fu...

Re: i2cdetect KX224-1053 accelerometer

before assuming that the new circuit board is defective we should probably double check the wiring and make sure that we have enabled i2c on the pi. I have checked a lot of time the wiring, so I do not think this is the problem. Now, I am trying to get some I2C device in order to check that i2cdete...

How about a wall bed that folds out? the retraction system could be motorised if desired but in the folded away position there should be no ongoing strain on the motor.

the firm that I used as an example of a wallbed also have a range of other products, such as their deskbed.

Re: Protecting Proprietary software from being copied.

Much like purchasing additional codecs for an individual Pi, you should indeed be able to generate a decryption key based on the Pi's individual serial number (I believe the MAC address is derived from the serial number). You could then issue any customer a new decryption key by email upon request (...
