Re: Newbie help! No display after initially working

I am all new to this Raspberry Pi stuff. I purchased a kit to turn it into a retro gaming console. The info I received was that the seller already set up Retro Pie and everything else that needed to be set up. Just needed to load roms. So when I originally unboxed the Raspberry PI 3, I hooked it up...

You can also get google assistant running on a raspberry pi without the voice hat: How to build your own digital assistant with a Raspberry Pi by Gary Sims. Re: RPI Drive servo by PWM (wiringpi / C programming)

I can't win. I stop your program running with a nice error message, I get complaints. I expect people to know what they're doing and I get complaints. Everyone loses. If the options are 'crash the PI' or 'show error-message', and people complaining about both, I'd know what option I'd take. If you ...

Re: Whole-House CCTV System

Thanks, I'll use that since as it's quite cheap, do you reckon, if I bought 10 of these, one per camera and had each one broadcasting it in a local ip, I could then use the 3B and connect all of them as IP cameras, so I can have 1 interface with 10 cameras? I would imagine that you could. I don't k...

Re: Recommendations for a good, but cheap, multimeter

Cheap multimeters usually come with terrible probes that break at the first opportunity. Maybe go a bit above the sub-£10 to avoid the disappointment. Adafruit's basic multimeter looks not bad, though I'd give those probes a couple of years tops. Extech meters are mostly decently built. Apart from ...

Re: Recommendations for a good, but cheap, multimeter

Give up on finding a multi-meter that measures power, measure voltage and current and work out the power from those. (you can get a multi-meter that measures power but not cheaply) Temperature and capacitance are also expensive to add. Stick to a basic one like the one that Jadro has suggested, if y...

Re: Why no Pi Zero with full sized connections?

Intentions are all well and good, but I still maintain that the Pi0/Pi0W are NOT optimal Pis for rank beginners. I completely agree, who claimed that they are? The biggest issue with giving one to a beginner is the lack of a GPIO header so physical computing is right out. Speed is another issue, th...

The gert vga666 doesnt leave many spare gpio pins, certainly not the 6 you need for your joystick.

I would suggest a usb joystick or a hdmi to vga adaptor.

i like PiBakery for easy sd card creation.

You might have a fake SD card although it is unlikely (people rarely fake the smaller sizes).

Re-formatting the SD card with size adjustment is recommended.
