Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

Unfortunately, after applying all commands, I still have green glitches during playing mkv files (720p). I have rpi4 4GB version. I set 320 Mb for video configuration, and all video files situated on HDD. Maybe I missed something? Please post a Kodi debug log after playing one of those files: https...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

Solved by run apt remove kodi* before try to update it. I tried to install/update it on RPi4 (Raspbian Buster), but getting this below error: dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/kodi_2%3a18.4-4~buster_all.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite '/usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/...

Thank You for great job! All works fine for me, but I have one little problem - there are no Power Off and Restart button in exit menu. Is there a fix for the tearing/graphic corruption during menu transitions? I don't think that this happened on the Pi3.
Nope, not yet. See: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... 5#p1538459

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

@Rascas: This looks like a good solution for the RPi 4. But isn't more required for RPi 0/1/2/3 using the legacy video driver? Or is restauration of the screen resolution not needed any more on older RPis? Not required for RPi 0/1/2/3 for some time now. I always tried to avoid making system changes...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

Unfortunetly, sudo is needed to change virtual terminal before launching Kodi because, on the Raspberry Pi 4 only, it does not start if X (a desktop environment like LXDE) is running in the same virtual terminal Kodi is started. That is due to the GBM/DRM window rendering that Kodi needs to be compi...

Works fantastically on my RPi 4 after applying the udev fix - thank you very much! A couple of questions for everyone - 1. This setting doesn't seem to work: Player -> Videos -> Adjust display refresh rate -> Always Is this fixable? This setting works until a certain degree, as I explained above, t...

Hi, I did everything according the instructions. Did all the tweaks as suggested in OP (GPU memory increase, udev rule etc.). All work great except little stutters every 3-5 seconds. TOP shows that kodi loads only 15% of the CPU Temperature stays constant at 72C. So I guess CPU is not thermal throt...

Ok, I'm a n00b. I had Kodi installed previously, and attempted to follow this guide. I immediately get errors. My actual question: If I follow these directions in reverse, will that remove it? And then, if I follow the steps in revers to remove my existing Kodi... would I be able to avoid starting ...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

Packages updated to 18.4-4. Changes: -Added libegl1 and libgles2 dependencies -Support for "OpenGL desktop driver with fake KMS" on the Raspberry Pi 3. This uses Kodi with GBM (like the Pi 4) but looses H265/HEVC support. The recommended is still using the "Legacy Original non-GL desktop driver" aka...

For anyone trying to get this working on Raspbian Buster Lite - you need two additional packages:

Code: Select all

sudo apt update && sudo apt install libegl1 libgles2
Probably kodi-bin needs these added as additional dependencies.
Thanks, added, should be good in the next build.

Kodi 19 should use ffmpeg+v4l2, until then, you can use popcornmix's leia_pi4 branch which patches ffmpeg and kodi to use MMAL which can decode HEVC. LibreLE uses this branch as does Arch ARM.
Yep, the same as above as explained at the end of the first post.

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

it is working quite well but the GUI interface seems slow, 20 to 40 fps is displayed when logging is enabled (why not 60 fps for the interface?) It doesn't look slow for me, what you may be seeing is some tearing. Kodi in Raspberry Pi 4 uses GBM as the window rendering and does not support VSync on...

libreElec will do that already I believe.

Currently no direct kernel support in standard Raspbian.
Do you have any idea when this will be ready?
Kodi on Raspbian will do it:

Re: speedtest difference Windows-RPi4

Speedtest, and other tests depend mostly on the server which it is tested with. Mainly on provider tested and distance. Even on the web interface on a x86 machine, if I select a more distant server, I may get lower results. I believe this is the main reason about the speed differences you are gettin...
