pull image off frame buffer?

I'm using omxplayer to play a video stream. I'm looking for a way to pull an image off the frame buffer so I can diagnose that playback remotely. I'm running rpisurv software the generates a matrix of omxplayer instances.

Any ideas?

hardware accelerated transcoding mpeg2 to h.264 Pi4

I can't seem to find any information on h.264 hardware encoding performance on the pi4 with omx acceleration. What I'd like to do is transcode an mpeg2 stream from an HD Homerun connect to h.264 HLS format. I'm seeing some claims that the Pi4 doesn't have hardware mpeg2 decode and I can't find any h...

Re: configuring vnc on cli

when using the raspi-config tool to enable it, it seems that it is only enabled for LAN access or something like that. I'm remote and it denies me access. I can't find any config file associated with this. In that doc: If you are in front of your Raspberry Pi and can see its screen, open the VNC Ser...

configuring vnc on cli

I just deployed a few pi3, but I forgot to go into the vnc settings dialog and change the security so I could connect. Now I get an 'access denied' in realvnc viewer, and in tightvnc viewer it says no matching encryption. I can't find any information on how to configure this on the command line. in ...

I don’t need huge bulk, I just don’t want to be paying double . If I could get the w for $15 at qty 20 I’d be quite happy.

Re: DIY POE?

In short, there is no simple diy way with 1G ethernet. 802.3af/at/bt are ~54v sources that deliver at least 37v at 100m to be compliant. These come across either the data pairs or the spare pairs (client decides) in 100Mbps ethernet, which makes pulling power off in 100Mbps very easy because we can ...

I'm 15 pages deep in the search and I've only found the thread about getting hundreds by emailing.

The WH definitely works for me, I'm soldiering on some headers anyway, but even those are showing up as 1 per customer *or* they are at least $17.

Re: Showing a Pi can replace a standard computer

I love the pi, I use a ton of them, even for desktop applications....but as remote terminals or video playback stations. The limit ram really kills even casual browsing and the very slow storage makes everything else drag. If you are using it for a single task then heck yeah, the pi can do a single,...

so,
where the heck can I purchase 20 pi zero w units? I need these for a project but all I can find is 'limit 1'

Re: [PI0W] ? and serial ports on zero W

Has anyone found a solution to this? I found very strange behavior with /dev/ttyS0. If a program opens it, then locks with fcntl TIOEXCL (exclusive lock) then I kill that program or try to unlock it, it remains locked, and can't be opened again. This is exactly what gpsd does probing serial ports. T...

Re: Multiple displays running simultaneously

If you sync the time on the pis via ntp and you script the videos to start at the top of the minute then they should be pretty closely synced. Ssh isn’t going to sync well, the time it takes for the sessions to connect is somewhat variable and also single threaded so you will have some offset. Still...

hardware video mux on Pi3? How?

Goal: read 4 input ~640x360 RTSP streams, decode in hardware, scale and encode them to 1080p output that can be streamed to a multicast address or even just directly to a udp stream... Basically a MUX transcoder. Secondary goal (completed, working): display 4x 1080p streams on a Pi3B+ at 4k@fps outp...

Re: Multiple displays running simultaneously

Not sure if you want a single Pi to drive multiple screens or just a way to synchronously play a video of multiple displays. For the first, I don't think you really can without resorting to USB video which will likely suck... But the second, the most straight forward solution is to render the video ...

ok, so I'll need to run in circular mode with a long time-out, trigger when I want recording and then end and restart the process to be ready for the next recording yes?

If raspivid is set with -t 0 (ie, run continously) then how is the buffer calculated? I'm wanting to get about 10 seconds in the buffer and use -s to trigger recording.

Camera - Constant recording buffer, keep only segments

Title is a bit messy. What I want to do is keep a buffer of the camera feed and then when an even is triggered, save 5 seconds of 'the past' and all the video throught the event. For example, a laser sensor (like a door sensor) that when someone passes through: store now - 5 seconds. keep recording ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

vcgencmd get_config int | grep -E "(volt|sdram)" over_voltage_avs=37500 over_voltage_avs_boost=0x23186 sdram_freq=450 for those interested. 1200x450 survived the night for me. I don't need more performance, I naively bought the B+ because it was 'newer', my stuff runs happily at lower clock speeds....

Re: How to limit CPU scaling on Pi 3 B+?

posting for posterity.

found another thread on pi 3 B+ lockups and added this to /boot/config.txt
arm_freq=1200
sdram_freq=450

arm_freq just sets the max, so the pi still idles at 600Mhz. This RAM apparently can't handle 500Mhz at this voltage and I'm not going to overvolt it.

I'm also having a nightly lockup on the Pi 3 B+. I haven't tested any CPU or Memory speeds just yet, just wanted to chime in. Pi 3 B didn't have this issue.

I'll be setting cpu and mem to 1200/450 to test this afternoon.

How to limit CPU scaling on Pi 3 B+?

I'm confused by the options I've seen regarding this. I have a Pi 3 B+ that likes to lock up about once per day. Power supply seems to be good. I'd like to keep the CPU from going over 1Ghz but I'm not sure if setting arm_freq=1000 in config.txt will do that, some implication that the automatic CPU ...

Re: VGA input/encode then stream

Are you still looking? Your post is already of couple month old. But good things sometimes take a little longer. HDMI is fraught with issues for this particular use case. You can't convert VGA to HDMI without a converter box, and HDMI+HDCP isn't going to work through your module (legally). I really...
