Re: Edimax EW-7811UTC Raspbian

Thank you for having consistent file naming conventions!

I was able to get the Edimax AC600 working using Pi B and kernel 3.18.14+ #793 using this driver:

Code: Select all

wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/80256631/8812au-3.18.14-793.tar.gz
tar xzf 8812au-3.18.14-793.tar.gz
./install.sh

Re: rPi GPIO to Mosfet - won't fire relay coil

I don't quite understand the diagram you made, so I re-did the diagram. I think it's what you described:

Does this make sense? Thanks!

Re: rPi GPIO to Mosfet - won't fire relay coil

http://i.imgur.com/5Xub0aE.png http://i.imgur.com/5Xub0aE.png I hope this example isn't too difficult to tell what I'm trying to do. Basically I have a 24V relay that I'm controlling with the TIP120. I would like the same TIP120 to make a 5V LED light up when the relay is on. Would this example wor...

Re: rPi GPIO to Mosfet - won't fire relay coil

TIP120 with 1K resistor worked perfectly! Thanks for the "TIP"

Last question: What would be the best way to wire an LED in line with the TIP120 to light up with the "gate" is active? Thanks for your help guys! This has been really informative.

Re: rPi GPIO to Mosfet - won't fire relay coil

Looks like you were exactly right about the gate voltage. I got one of those step down DC devices with the rheostat and fired 4V to the gate and the relay popped right open. I then adjusted the output to 3.7V and put that on the gate. No "pop". Might be a dumb question but does it have anything to d...

rPi GPIO to Mosfet - won't fire relay coil

Hello - I'm new to electronics so I have almost no idea what I'm doing. I hope you guys can help. Basically I have two relays with 24VDC coils that I would like to be able to turn on via GPIO. If I connect the relay directly to ground, I can hear it "pop" which means the relay works. The schematic b...
