Re: YOU SUCK: the venting thread

You know what sucks? Taking a device apart, doing whatever repair you were doing and then putting it all back together. TO ONLY NOTICE THAT ONE SCREW SAT THERE, ON YOUR DESK JUST LAUGHING AT YOU :x Cleaned out my laptop earlier, put it all back together and noticed a single screw that I hadn't put b...

Re: legality of roms?

To be honest, if you downloaded an old obscure arcade game rom, or a rom to an extremely rare game, no one really cares. AFIK no company has litigated for ROM piracy yet. However, there could always be a time and place where the game industry decides to set up a RIAA or MPAA like association and go...

I think it already exists (apt-get install desmume), but it is too slow to use. Gameboy Advance emulation is really good though. :D

Food for thought..
Well, what do you expect from a £26 computer using a single core ARM processor with 512mb of ram?! Also, try overclocking your Pi to make it run faster. It still took me 10 hours to compile Q3A though!

(I am waiting on a new case for my Pi! :D ) Also, I would like to point out that I was getting 40fps+ (even 60 - 70 at times)! using a 1024x768 resolution on a VGA monitor (HDMI to VGA adapter) with a 1ghz overcl...

Re: ps2 hub to usb

If it is a standard USB HID device, then potentially. (I am not 100% percent sure, but they are cheap. Worth trying at least.) If you want to use PS2 controllers on your Pi, there is a way of wiring them up to the GPIO pins, which is possible an easier option. https://github.com/petrockblog/RetroPie...

Re: Rpix86... SLOW AS MOLASSES ON A COLD DAY!

RPIX86 was based on the code for DSX86, as DOS emulator for the Nintendo DS, so what do you excpect? It emulates a 80486 processor, at about 20mhz, with 640kb of RAM. Also, the PI port of Doom is great! All you have to do is get the original music files as MP3 (https://github.com/petrockblog/RetroPi...

Yup. Gaben then made a few tweaks to the engine, and it became GoldSrc.

I cant think of any, but there are emulators and there is a port of ScummVM, which would allow you to play games like Eye Of the Beholder and many other point and click adventure games.

Raspberry Pi Handheld Games Console

A few weeks back, I built a little Raspberry pi Handheld console. I don't have a work log of photos, but I do have a video showing it in action (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJRWHh4RX1M) I built it using a Model A, a 12v battery pack, a 3.5 inch screen and a USB snes pad. It isn't the best lookin...

How would I go about getting Medal of Honor allied assault to work on this, I would love to play it on my portable PiBox :) Medal Of Honor Allied Assault runs on the IDTech 3 engine, the engine that powers Quake 3 Arena. The game uses a closed source heavily modified engine. Meaning a port would be...

Ah, the glitches I was talking about, I have sorted out. I was only running with a 64mb allocation to the GPU, which renders Darkplaces unplayable after a short while. Remember to allocate a minimum of 128mb of ram to the GPU! (I am now running with a 256mb split)

I got TF to run, but after a while, the intro crashes, and then the Pi crashes. I tried a bunch of mods, but most of them failed to load, or crashed shortly after loading.
Do I need to "sudo usermod -a -G video pi" Every time before running Darkplaces?
