SimpleCV camera operation not permitted

I followed the instructions to install SimpleCV given in this post (http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=57788). But I get the following errors. SimpleCV:1> cam = Camera(0, {"width":1280, "height":1024}) WARNING: caught exception: SystemError("Cannot open '/dev/video0': 1, Operation not...

Raspberry Pi adhoc network

I'm new to using the RPi. I want to make an ad-hoc network on the pi (which I am using to control a robot) so that I don't need to have a router nearby. I tried looking around, but none of the tutorials worked for me. I am using the Edimax 7811Un adapter. I want to do something like the Parrot AR dr...

Re: Can I get some tips to reduce lag while streaming video?

I'm using the network on my university campus. Would I not need to specify a target machine? I piped the raspivid command to the one you gave me. raspivid -t 999999 -o - |gst-launch-1.0 -e v4l2src do-timestamp=true ! video/x-h264,width=1280,height=720,framerate=30/1 ! h264parse ! rtph264pay config-i...

Can I get some tips to reduce lag while streaming video?

I'm streaming video using the instructions given on the Camera board page. I'm using ubuntu on the computer used to view the feed. Currently I'm getting nearly a minute's lag. I want to bring it under a second. How can I reduce video quality? Can you guys give me some tips to reduce the lag?

Whether this method would work with your python code I cannot really say.

Where would I append the '&'? I'm new to python, so can you please give me an example?

Running the Camera board as a background process

I'm trying to make a camera mount that can be remotely controlled. I'm using servo blaster to control the servo and the Camera board. When i initialize the camera though python, it waits for the camera to finish transmitting before proceeding to the next code. How can I make the script move on the t...

Re: Camera shuts off in a second

I got it working. It was rather silly. It turns out that I have to get netcat running on my machine before I start transmitting from the Pi.

There were some specific fixes for the camera in the firmware update last week.
The problem persists. I don't understand what broke it in the first place. It used to work fine a couple weeks ago.

Camera shuts off in a second

I have a 512 MB model B board with a camera board. I have previously streamed video without any problems. Today I tried streaming video using netcat, but the camera would start and shut off in less than a second. I thought that the '-t 999999' part may be causing a problem, but it records video with...

Re: Servoblaster invalid width specified

I downloaded mine last week. I know there is a 50ms minimum, but the documentation states that to switch a pin off, you send it a width of '0'.

Servoblaster invalid width specified

I am using servoblaster to run 2 servos on my model B board. I want to turn one pin off, but when I send the pin a width of 0, to switch it off, I get an error saying 'invalid specified length'. I can't use killall since I need the second servo to keep running. Is this a bug or am I doing something ...

Wifi connectivity issues with Adafruit Occidentalis

This is the first time I'm using the RPi. I plan on using it for video streaming with the camera module. I started out with a Raspbian install, where everything worked properly. I am using the Edimax 7811u wifi adapter. It was plug and play with raspbian. Yesterday, I installed Adafruit's Occidental...
