Re: Official V4L2 driver

It's the longstanding issue that stills mode locks AE and AWB. V4L2 takes anything above 1280x720 (in either direction) to be a still capture. Set the module parameters max_video_width and max_video_height to 2592 and 1944 respectively when loading bcm2835-v4l2, and it'll treat all captures as vide...

Auto exposure fails when res != 640x480 with Motion

Hi, Just been pulling hair out a little bit... Using standard Motion with the /dev/video0 device and width/height of 640x480, autoexposure works perfectly. Changing only the width/height to 1024x768 or 1280x1024, it simply does nothing at all - exposure (and WB seemingly) stays as it was when the de...

Re: device-tree for DHT11 Temperature/Humidity sensor

Hi lihgong, You shouldn't need to insmod anything as it will grab automatically, IIRC. I presume /proc/device-tree exists? DT needs to be enabled on the kernel... can you stick dtdebug=1 in to config.txt, reboot and see what the output of "sudo vcdbg log msg" says? It's also possible you haven't 'en...

device-tree for DHT11 Temperature/Humidity sensor

I've created a device tree overlay for the popular DHT11 Temp/Humidity sensor, below: // Definitions for dht11 module /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "brcm,bcm2708"; fragment@0 { target-path = "/"; __overlay__ { dht11: dht11@0 { compatible = "dht11"; pinctrl-names = "default"; pinctrl-0 = <&dht...

Re: Camera/Kernel problems: error 0 waiting for frame comple

Thanks, I set the kernel module debugging on.. Re: Camera/Kernel problems: error 0 waiting for frame comple

I had used motion-mmal, that had logfile entries so was just looking for some better custom logging with the version I am using 3.2.12, so I get the logfile, log_level and log_type warnings too, but yes you are correct, I'm using the movie/ffmpeg for capturing video. I can't really see having that r...

Re: Simple Pi UPS with 2 batteries

I'm using the 8pin DIP LT1302-5 full part number LT1302CN8-5#PBF Struggling to locate non-SMD coilcraft DO3316 but will keep looking. Looking at the mintyboost kit, the coil there is HUGE compared to the one I have which is about half the width and height of the IC! I think I'm going to have to mess...

Re: Simple Pi UPS with 2 batteries

Thanks, will try to have a play around... After about 10 minutes on battery the chip temp rose to about 37deg C, but of course thats with feedback in an unsuitable position causing runaway, so I still need a method to use a standard 5v supply and not having it drawing from battery. What make/model c...

Re: Simple Pi UPS with 2 batteries

Thanks for the response... Soldered to veroboard, everything as tight as possible (fit entire cct to 5 rows x 20), C2 cap 0.35ohm ESR Panasonic FC series (low ESR). Used this coil (http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1484720.pdf). There is a fair ripple (230mV p-p). Chip not even warm. Unless the ESR ...

Re: Simple Pi UPS with 2 batteries

I have a problem with this not working as expected when under load... I built this circuit and whilst the 5v from the AA batteries fundamentally works, I am having a problem where it's always drawing current from the batteries, even when +5v is present on the 'input'. (testing with a 450mA load) I c...

Just an update... Frustratingly had a power cut and haven't had a repeat of the issue, even on the pi that I moved back to 3.10.27+... :( I'm still monitoring, however. Just FYI one is at 24 (pre v4l2 update) and the other at 27.

Re: Camera/Kernel problems: error 0 waiting for frame comple

Just a thought, could this be anything to do with rapidly changing levels of auto exposure - as overnight, neither boards have shown the problem (practically pitch black so zero exposure changes) ? (although I suspect the one running 10.3.24 from 12 Dec is running same camera code as 10.3.21). Still...

Had first instance of error in 3.10.24+ #614 just now less than 3 hours into testing that version. So on that basis looks like the issue crept in between 3.10.22 and 24 given that 21 is fine. Downgraded kernel to 3.10.21+ #604 (commit 09b8c6cf6cc41d339bf10a4cbb1febc9b4d246f7)

Problem does NOT occur, so something has been introduced between the two versions :/ Any ideas?

Camera/Kernel problems: error 0 waiting for frame completion

Hi, I have a couple of Pi's running camera boards, one is a NoIR version on the NoIR version, we're also running the latest kernel/firmware (kernel 3.10.27+ #630) the normal version is 3.10.21+ #604. at seemingly random points in time, we get an error which causes motion to restart the thread (and i...

Re: Binning for full FOV video

Really looking forward to full FOV as even after tweaking focus with the fisheye (yes it is a bit 'foggy' - the effective resolution isn't great), the FOV is less than my default QuickCam Pro 9000 :) I'd continue using that but the 640x480 on the pi camera can achieve more FPS than the USB interface...

Re: Video without center-crop?

I too am eagerly awaiting a full frame video solution - despite a fisheye lens (and associated tweak to focus correctly), the FoV is still way short even that of my old logitech quickcam pro 9000 (which I think is a bit slow on USB for 640x480), using with Motion.

Re: Binning for full FOV video

Thanks for the reply. Yes I'm aware of the still mode on motion-mmal, but like you say it's far too slow to be effective. I have ordered a lens set from eBay but I'm a little wary of the quality of glass and reducing the effective resolution to something approximating a foggy day :) Binning the pixe...
