Re: Heat Sinks, Do YOU need them.

I was actually thinking of using an old little heat sink from some electronics I put it constantly on the 3.3v pin.
I don't believe I need it, as I use it for xmbc right now, but because it is overclocked and on for hours or days, it can only be beneficial .. right ? :D

Re: Need help to use RPi as proxy

My local Pi ip is already static, so that's not a problem I can easily forward a port My external ip never changes so I only need it once (right ?) My school is stupid, it would never see I'm doing it and even if they catch me i'll just tell them their filter sucks and doesn't allow me to do the nee...

Need help to use RPi as proxy

Hey guys, My situation is farily simple : In my high school we have wifi, but they block like everything. What I'd like to do is to use my RPi as a personal proxy using my personal home internet, so the ywon't notice it like they do for web proxys. The thing is I have no idea how to start/where to l...

Use audio jack as input ?

Hey guys, A question came to my mind : can we "read" signals from the audio jack of the RPi ? Like to attach a microphone ? as on this page, the guy says that "Most of the time, a headphone jack can double as a microphone jack" ( http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-microphone-jack.htm ) So basically, ...

Re: Use RPi as part of processing for main computer

The Pi if anything is going to be slower than your PC so using it as a "processor extender" would be a little pointless. Nevertheless the Pi is good for off-loading simple tasks from your PC such as web servers, proxy, file sharing and streaming internet radio, managing emails etc. Richard S. Thank...

Use RPi as part of processing for main computer

Hey guys, First of all, this is just out of curiosity as I don't have enough "system processing/hardware" knowledge. So, the question : would it be possible to connect the RPi to a computer and use it as some kind of processor extender? Like basically make a programm that says "I want google chrome ...

Having issues with a 16x2 LCD..

Hey guys, :D I'm trying to connect a LCD 16x2 display, but as a matter of fact, something is not working well.. What I get when I try to display something is mostly zeros, squares or strange numbers. I made a vid so it would be easier to understand. http://youtu.be/CzyPHnNlJaA I followed this tutori...

Re: Controlling the Pi from a phone/pc far away?

You could forward a port that you would then use to connect to the pi as if you were in your local network (I think)

I'm not an expert though, but try looking into that. ;)

Re: Problem programm freezes

Once you hit "triangle" you set "stop" to False. The loop does not stop at that point, and so your print and sleep lines will run one more time. At that point, your loop condition is no longer true and so will not repeat. Can you also try changing your loop to "while stop". I have two concerns with...

Tell the RPi to execute a command after a laps of time

Hey guys !

So I need to be able to execute any command after a short amount of time. What I imagine is something just like for the shutdown command, where you can put as an option to execute it after x minutes.

Is there an easy way for this ?

Thanks !

Re: Why mix arduino with raspberryPi

Thanks for all the answers !

So if I understand well. The RPi would act as the brain, why the arduino would receice commands from the brain and "translate" them tothe physical system?

And is the Arduino more protected against circuits malfunctions or is it just a barrier that still gets damaged ?

Why mix arduino with raspberryPi

Hey guys !

As a beginner, I noticed many people mix arduinos and RPi, but I don't understand what does the arduino givess that the RPi doesn't have.
It might sound like a stupid question to many, but well, I don't know the answer to it :D

Thanks in advance !

Re: Raspberry Pi - How to control motors...

Hi piguy, just two questions: 1. I rebuild your circuit with the same components. After I plugged in the Batteries, the PI startet booting. After booting, I don't have access to Display, keyboard and mouse so I can't run the scripts. When I start the Pi by powersupply, it's no problem. How do I do ...

Simulation software for circuits to begin using GPIO ?

Hey guys! I'm currently looking for a good software to simulate circuits before I make them, and as I am a beginner I would prefer if this circuit told me if something was wrong (f.e. resistance too low/high, risk of damging stuff, or simply mistakes in the circuits itself) It would also be cool if ...
