Re: STICKY: Using a Gert VGA 666 adapter - [HOWTO]

at least I won't go crazy trying to fix this anymore and I'll just keep using my pi 3! I have come to the same conclusion. But let me say, at least, that it's really sad that analogue output is no longer "supported" properly, this was the feature that personally made the RPi "special" compared to o...

I'm sorry, but I struggle to understand the outcome of the tests and, therefore, the answer in your post (not everyone on the forum is an engineer ;) ). Re: STICKY: Using a Gert VGA 666 adapter - [HOWTO]

I don't have any hardware at hand to test with, however having an odd number in any of the horizontal values will have issues. The pipeline on the pi4 runs at 2 pixels per clock, so inserting odd values would require switch output phase mid cycle. Most displays are tolerant of being out by one on t...

Thank you very much!!! I'll check ASAP.

(But what about the flickering picture also using a standard resolution like in my "first" config.txt? Maybe we could fix it by firmware or config options?)

Looking back over your posts I don't see full details of what you have added to config.txt. If you want anyone to try and help then that is the minimum required. What is your dpi_timings line if you're trying to get mode 87 working? Hello and thank you for your support. I am currently experiencing ...

Re: STICKY: Using a Gert VGA 666 adapter - [HOWTO]

are you also using the official power supply? I'll try to use a different one just to compare. I'm using an unofficial power supply and I still have the issue on my Raspberry Pi 4. Same SD card (Raspbian Buster) and VGA666 on Raspberry 3: no problem. So I suppose it's a RPi4 issue but I don't know ...

Re: STICKY: HOWTO: Create Custom HDMI modes

I did rpi-update a week ago, and I can't get dpi_mode=87 working (I'm using a VGA666). I'll check again.

May I ask which command related to KMS driver should be present in config.txt? (kms, fkms...)

Thanks

it is true that custom video modes (hdmi_mode 87) are not supported on RPI4?

But could it be a Raspbian Buster (software) problem? the user in the previous page that recorded the video is using a Raspberry Pi 2. (I will test my RPi 4 + VGA666 + Raspbian Stretch ASAP...)

Re: STICKY: Using a Gert VGA 666 adapter - [HOWTO]

Hello Gert,
thank you very much for your feedback.
It was me that opened the issue on GitHub.

If this is a hardware-related problem, why does it happen only on Raspbian Buster and/or RPi 4, and not on Raspbian Stretch / RPi 3?

Thank you

Hello, I have the same issue (flickering) with my RPi4 and VGA666. I tried different video modes, config.txt options, cables and even another VGA666 but I still get a flickering picture. No problem with my RPi3. Any hint please? EDIT: it seem to be related to software (Raspbian Buster) and not to ha...

Re: GPIO pins 22-27 and LCD display

Thank you very, very much for all your feedback. I've seen some LCD2USB boards that, of course, are su...

GPIO pins 22-27 and LCD display

Hello, for my arcade project I'm using a VGA "Shield" (hat) on my RPi that leaves the pins 22-27 unused (overlay VGA 666). https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51oRsF3wsJL.jpg I would like to take advantage of it implementing some kind of additional feature like an LCD display (16x2), wo...

Re: Can't manually enable experimental OpenGL driver on "clean" installation

I've done it! 8-)

After enabling the experimental OpenGL driver in raspi-config, manually delete /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-fbturbo.conf and reboot.

Re: Can't manually enable experimental OpenGL driver on "clean" installation

Thank you for your feedback.

Maybe there is a way to forward this to someone of the Staff (or Simon Long himself) without "stalking"? It would be extremely useful to put on a "clean" Raspbian installation with hardware acceleration.

Can't manually enable experimental OpenGL driver on "clean" installation

Hello, I'm trying to get a clean installation of Raspian Stretch with hardware acceleration. Starting from latest release of Raspbian LITE, I updated everything (apt-get update, dist-upgrade etc.) . I installed Xorg Display Server and Xinit sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends xserver-xorg x...

Re: [GUIDE] Raspbian Lite with RPD/LXDE/XFCE/MATE/i3/Openbox/X11 GUI

This guide is awesome, but it would be nice if it could be expanded with instructions to activate OpenGL acceleration.

Installing

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install xcompmgr libgl1-mesa-dri
and activating the OpenGL driver in raspi-config still does NOT work... someting is missing.

Any hint?
Thanks
