List of (red, blue) gains for equivalent of white balance

Hi all Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but I couldn't see anything. I thought it might be useful to post a list of (red, blue ) gain values that appear to me to be approximately equivalent to the usual white balance modes. These are trial and error so involve a degree of judgment, and th...

Re: Direct conenction of Pi to tablet when router unavailabl

Hi Wowik, I tried getting the Kobo to run as a hotspot/AP by installing hostapd on it, but it won't run: I think it has the wrong wifi hardware. So it looks like I will have to use the same method as you of using a 2-way switch on the Pi to go between the two modes. Would you be kind enough to share...

Re: Direct conenction of Pi to tablet when router unavailabl

Many thanks for that advice. I'll try getting the Kobo to act as a hotspot and see how I get on.

Direct conenction of Pi to tablet when router unavailable

Would anyone have any idea how to set up the following? I want to use my hacked Kobo tablet to control the Pi on the move and have it display previews from the camera module. When I'm home, my Pi and Kobo talk to each other quite nicely through the wireless router and this is working well. What I wo...

Progressively darkening images with picamera module (solved)

Hi everyone, I was having the same problem as here but with picamera in Python. The images got progressively darker until they were black. In case anyone else is still having this problem, this is what I did:- I noticed that it only happened with short shutter speeds, so I suspect that the stored sh...

Re: Daylight IR photography

Great work! I love how it shows the profound effect of the different lighting conditions through the day.

My first attempt with the blue filter was unimpressive but I clearly judged it too soon.

Re: Daylight IR photography

Hi jbeale, it's possible as I'm not using the built in -tl option — I need to move the camera along a step between shots — but to be honest I can't see it in these examples. There is some camera wobble in parts, but that's hopefully fixed now after a redesign of the mounting.

Daylight IR photography

Is anyone else doing daytime IR photography with the NoIR board? Apart from the example here I haven't really seen any others. I've enjoyed the results of IR photography for a some time with my SLR and a filter, so I tried swapping the NoIR board into my timelapse rig, and I'm quite pleased with the...

Re: New features for raspistill command

Hi James, I just wanted to say thank you so much for your work on this - being able to set the exposure time should greatly improve the results of my timelapses. I've also noticed that forcing the ISO to 100 has a noticeably positive impact on image quality. If anyone else is interested in using man...
