Re: Can I use USB OTG with a network share?

You can, but it's not straight forward. The g_mass_storage module needs a block device or a flat file, most network shares aren't either. There are also limitations with simultaneous access from the PC/USB host side and the linux side - read only is OK read/write on one or both sides will be proble...

Can I use USB OTG with a network share?

I've been doing some reading on the various capabilities of the different versions of the Pi. I'm trying to see if there is a way to marry a network share with USB OTG. Basically, I am trying to find a way to have a Pi appear as a usb storage device, but the storage behind that is a network share. I...

Re: Network issues with remote Pi

So I think there is something wrong with the stock system. I've got 8 Pi around the house and only very very occasionally can I not remote into them Since it happens so infrequently, I just reboot them I'm talking about 1 Pi out of 8 /month infrequent So I don't think its fundamental to Pi (These a...

Re: Network issues with remote Pi

That's a pretty good suggestion. I'll give that a shot but is anyone aware of the root cause? Is there an issue with the firmware or driver or something? I keep it at my sister's place because she has fiber internet and there is nothing even remotely close to that where I live. I use it with an exte...

Re: Network issues with remote Pi

Happens to everyone at times as there can be many reasons for access being denied (and not just a fault with the Pi) in these situations I recommend building in a reboot in the middle of the night to your program or better still - switch off/on using a separate mains timer switch but that option mi...

Network issues with remote Pi

I have a Pi 3 in a remote location. Every so often, I can't connect to it. I try to VNC or SSH to it and it just times out. It is running the latest Raspian and I keep it updated. It is connected via LAN, not wifi. It has to be unplugged and plugged back in to re-establish a network connection. I ke...

Hard drive "Magic Mismatch Can't find valid F2FS filesystem"

I formatted a 5TB hard drive in another Linux system in ext4 and copied data over. I used a powered USB docking station (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153066) to connect it to a Raspberry Pi 3 but I cannot mount it in the pi, even after adding "max_usb_current=1" to the c...

Re: seedbox not downloading, possibly due to small swap

How big is your SD card ? The command "df -h" will shoud you available space on mounted filesystems. You need to control where temporary files are stored and put it either on a partition on the SD card with enough space or on the USB-stick. Edit: When you say "swap" we usually think about a swap-pa...

seedbox not downloading, possibly due to small swap

I am trying to set up my pi1 as a seedbox. I have a 128gb flash drive plugged in it for storage. I am using the latest Raspian and qbittorrent. I can't seem to download anything and I think it is due to the size of the swap space or something. It starts to download if it is small but then everything...

Re: slow browser on 1st gen pi

I'll take a look at the browser as well.

As far as tinylinux goes, what package manager does it use? It doesn't seem to have apt-get. I tried asking on the forums there but registration seems to be broken or something.

slow browser on 1st gen pi

I have a Raspi 1 model B. I need just a browser and rdp/vnc. I used Raspian to do a headless install and then added enough gui component to get a browser but it is painfully slow. I had to overclock it to 900 to make it usable and I think that's causing issues. I was thinking about using ChromiumOS ...

Is there a similar way to add the Pixel desktop to Lite? Try this: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends raspberrypi-ui-mods gvfs xserver-xorg-video-fbturbo sudo apt-get install -y rpi-chromium-mods sudo apt-get install -y python-sense-emu python...

What about PoE? I know that it isn't supported natively but I've seen it done. Has anyone seen a project using a 48 port switch with PoE?

Re: How do you power your server farm?

I realize that after I noticed the number of connectors. It doesn't really matter, it's just an illustration. I just need to 5v @ 2A per port. I don't really have a number and it will likely depend on what is available but the fewer number of hubs the better. No peripherals, maybe a dongle if needed.

How do you power your server farm?

I'm looking at a project that would require a number of Pis and was wondering if anyone had any ideas about the best way to power them. I was thinking about something like his:

Unfortunately I cannot find it for sale. Thoughts?

<t>So one thing I was planning on doing with a Pi was making it into a really tiny emulator. I looked up the dimensions online since I don't think I have an NES anymore and it *may* work but...
