Raspberry Pi 4 1 or 2GB

Hi;

We are buying some Pi 4s for our Pi Jam.
Just checking, is the 1GB versions OK? e.g. is this enough base memory for things like Scratch, Python Rolling Robots, Minecraft etc. We will not be running high level graphics just projects for children / adults at the monthly Pi Jam.

Thanks

Raspberry Pi 4 Recommended Mobile Power

Hi; We are updating our Pi Jam equipment and have decided to get 10 x Pi 4s. Along with these we are getting a couple of CamJam Robotics kits, however I need some advice on what power packs to buy to enable the Pi and the Robotics kit to be mobile. I have used the CamJam kits before with a Pi 3 and ...

Installing Debian x86 on Sony VAIO VGN UX-280P

Hi; I have been given a Sony Vaio VGN UX-280P. It has Windows XP on it but I was thinking of letting my after school club or Pi Club attendees use it with Raspbian installed on it? What would be the best way to install Raspbian on it as it only has USB, I guess a bootable USB stick with Rasbian Imag...

Generating and hearing a random sentence

Hi; I have just come back from our monthly Pi gathering at our local library during which one of the Library staff asked if I could help them with the Shakespeare Random Insults Generator for an event in the Library. Basically what they want is to have this installed on the Libraries demo Raspberry ...

Hi;

Your best bet is to head over to the PITS page http://www.pi-in-the-sky.com/index.php?id=support and maybe contact the PITS support at support@pi-in-the-sky.com

Recommended Pi Camera For Robotic Vision with OpenCV

Which Camera? ok so I am trying to help someone kit out their robot and they asked me which camera. I said "just get a Raspberry Pi camera," they said "which one." Wow I didn't realise there were so many!!! So for robotic vision, in challenges such as the ones in PiWars , which Raspberry Pi (or inde...

Cloning SD Cards Using Windows

Hi; I am working on a robotics competition with my local college. I helped them today setup Raspbian with the CamJamEdukit Robotics modules for motor control. They now need to clone this image to four other SD cards using WIndows. I am a Mac person and can do this on my mac using terminal but have n...

Open CV Computer Vision - Direction Decision

Need a little help here if I may. I am trying to develop robotic vision using OpenCV and my Raspberry PI based robot. I am currently working on navigating around by identifying the floor and walls and then the idea is to move without hitting the walls. Combined with this I am working on detecting th...

Thanks Richard, I've never used classes or this method before but it does seem a great way of keeping things modular.

Program management - modules and functions

Hi; I am working on a robotic vision project and need a little help in managing the different elements of the program. The first phase is to navigate a maze. We now have a basic working vision element that can identify the edges of the walls and which direction to turn in based on the angle of the w...

Hi; Just asking if anyone can recommend a reasonably low cost (£30 - £40) self build Robotic Arm Project. Re: Cannot Install Moviepy for Python 2.7

Mmm I re-read details on installing packages and

Code: Select all

sudo pip install xxxxx
should install the module for python 2 and

Code: Select all

sudo pip3 install xxxx
for python 3.
In an act of desperation I tried

Code: Select all

sudo pip2 install xxxxx
and it worked - how bizzare - it was not documented

Re: Remote Access Made Easy (Not yet but it's a thought) (c)

It isn't a universal solution like the one you envisage, but for RPiZero boards (only) and for access to the GPIOZERO API (only), are you aware of this - http://bennuttall.com/raspberry-pi-zero-gpio-expander/ It meets this restricted part of your remit: I would love to be able to use Raspberry Pis ...

Synergy Keyboard and Mouse Sharing

Hi; Whilst looking for host access solutions (see separate post). I came across synergy which enables keyboard and mouse sharing fo WIndows, OS X, Linux etc. It appears to cost money but a little more research and it would appear that older binaries are open source. Has anyone used this on a Laptop ...

Re: Remote Access Made Easy (Not yet but it's a thought) (c)

I am looking for a direct connection, plug and play solution, which does not exist at present (as far as I am aware). The user should be able to plug the Raspberry Pi into a Laptop and open an app and hey presto - Raspberry Pi Desktop appears. This would be ground breaking IMHO and make the Raspberr...

Hi, We have a problem with one of our Raspberry Pi 3's. We are using the CamJamEduKit3 Robotics kit and have been writing some code from the associated worksheets to run our motors from the motor driver board. One one of the Pi's as soon as you switch the battery pack on that powers the motors (via ...

Re: Missing Task Bar and Corrupted White Desktop

It seemed to be a an unfinished update.
I tried to run sudo apt install raspberrypi-ui-mods and it complained saying something about dpkg not configured.
I followed the instructions and the update finished and now I have a Desktop back.
