Re: Color Sensing/Detection

G, that is a good read thanks! Found this little guy as well. http://www.element14.com/community/docs ... MgodlgMArw Think it would make my work a little easier. Just need to find a way to trigger the capture.

Color Sensing/Detection

Well I have spend the better part of two days trying to read everything I can about using a RPI to sense color. Here is my problem. I have a machine at work that prints little containers about 1 every second or so. The container color can be one of 3 colors. I would like to keep track of the count o...

Million Times Clock

Thought this would be a fun project to do for the RPI, does anyone have some input on steps and parts needed? I am guessing it not really analog clocks but just two hands controlled by a servo-type.

Re: HeaterMeter: Automated BBQ and Sous-vide controller

I have my heater meter working and I love it. My next step is to control my pellet grill as well, but not with the heater meter functions. Would I have to purchase another heater meter. Basically I need a pin to drive a Nrf905 radio module to communicate with my grill. At this point I think it would...

Re: Can I tie RPi with this remote? Similar to heatermeter

OK guys I have built my HeaterMeter and love using it! SO my next step is tying the remote in. Just for simplicity I will get another RPI so I do not mess up the one running the HeaterMeter. I attached another picture of the remote. Shows the ribbon cable pin out that comes from the remote board to ...

Re: Reading a 7-segment display from controller

Now that is were you smart guys come in! I am already above my head but I can follow orders pretty well. The controller is not a standard off the shelf product . It is part of my Greenmountain "Daniel Boone" so not dure those numbers would work.

Re: Reading a 7-segment display from controller

Thanks for the warning, I will keep that in mind. I will have access to an occiloscope this weekend. You asked about the shift registers. I believe that is what they are called. Each display has a HC164 (8-bit Serial-input/parallel-output8-bit Serial-input/parallel-output Shift Register) and I can g...

Re: Reading a 7-segment display from controller

Another thought, would it be possible to just tap into the input for each display's shift register and somehow make sense of that data?

Re: Reading a 7-segment display from controller

OK great I was trying to find them online..unsuccesfully thanks for the link! One question, Which pin is which? Example- if I am looking at the pins from the back is 1 top left 2 second top left etc? I have access to the to all the pins to check voltages. I cannot find any other diagrams giving me t...

Re: Reading a 7-segment display from controller

That is a good question... I also realized I can just tap into the thermometer and get the temp reading that way I would have to figure out the curve to map the probe since I do not know that name of the probe. But doing it this way I would lose some info I would like to see. The display shows 1,2,3...

Re: Reading a 7-segment display from controller

Yes I have thought about a camera but that would just be to easy :D I have no idea what I am getting myself into but I want to learn. This is related to another post I had but did not receive any answers so I figured I would see if there is another way of doing this. http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB...

Reading a 7-segment display from controller

I have a controller with a 3-digit 7 segment display that displays temperature. I would like to have my RPi read the display, which I can access over the internet. This would allow me to make keep an eye on temperature while I am not home. What would the best way be of achieving this? Thanks.

Can I tie RPi with this remote? Similar to heatermeter

Guys I have a pellet smoker grill that already has a remote. I would like to tie that in with something similar to the heatermeter for RPi. I believe the remote is a RF remote, it does both send and receive since it displays the set temp and actual temp of the grill and meat using two probes, and al...
