Thanks Lynbarn, that would be great
Any suggestions on case design? I"ve just done a square box, but would rounded corners be a good idea?

Re: Connect laptop DVD drive to GPIO?

It's not very expensive to shell a laptop dvd (I've done one ready for my pi)

And my shell came with a usb->power cord so i can just run it from the same hub my pi will run. Keeps wall plugs down to just 1 for the pi, a hdd and the drive

Re: Trying to create a Rpi XMBC media center

Looking online, both scart and hdmi have a 5v line you might be able to pull power off. The drive takes its power through the same usb? If your tv has 2+ usb, i'd suggest trying one of those usb cords with an extra plug purely for power.

<t>I'm building something similar (but with a smaller hard drive and a dvd drive)<br/> <br/> The dvd drive i'm using pulls extra power for writing, and it does this over another usb cable. I plan to either pull power straight from the board in my powered hub for the Pi, or simply from one of the por...

Re: Welsh's Pi Box aka Shepherd's Pi

Right, i've got the dvd drive working, a powered 7 port hub and a 320gb hard drive.

I might have to drop the LCD because they all seem quite pricey.

Re: iPod Touch LCD + Digitizer on r-pi?

You'd have to get a board that could drive the lcd as well as the lcd itself. These tend to be hard to come by and expensive for most screens. Then you'd have to work out how to interface the board with the Pi.

Re: Network oriented version of raspberry pi?

You could add some usb-to-ethernet connecters to the pi's usb ports. The speeds wonk be that great, but it'll mean more network ports.

henkschuif-kaas, i think it can be done, but those things have notoriously low framerates for av-in. (Like <5fps from what i heard)

EDIT: Ignore, didn't see other pages

Confirmed in my thread on VGA that they are working on getting VGA onto the Mk.2 boards, and have found how to do it, they just need to do a lot of layout changes and thus can't get it done on the Mk.1's

Re: VGA... Am i missing something?

Ah, i see where i was wrong to assume now. Thanks folks.

Just as a sudden thought... could a pci port be added in any way? (via some of the expansion pins / headers?) That way, old graphics cards could be procured cheaply and used to give vga output.

Re: VGA... Am i missing something?

Could vga out not be simply done using a cable like this and a audio splitter on the phono port? :?

Seeing as how the av plug works on a tv, and the board is putting out the video part of the av cable ( i assume, this is probably where i'm wrong).
