Re: Email from Farnell

My Pi has just arrived! (got despatch email on Wednesday).

It was in fact posted by Royal Mail 2nd Class. On the other hand, my delivery estimate was week commencing 7th, so I can't really complain – got it way ahead of schedule ayway.

Re: Email from Farnell

Farnell have just taken money from my credit card – £29.46 to be specific! My order is now in 'Processing' state.

Previously I have got an email that my Pi will be delivered in the week commencing 07/05/2012. I ordered at 08:35 on the release day (29/02).

Fingers crossed!

Re: Video Adapter

Get something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PC-C.....2ebb26a97d

Around £12 delivered.

The picture quality might not be perfect though, as it uses Composite output, not HDMI as a source.

Re: How long will the sale last? Make your bets!

<t>My predictions:<br/> <br/> 1. Most of the people will not even be able to see website / shop, due to amount of traffic<br/> <br/> 2. For those lucky ones that will be able to place the order, Pi will be gone in the matter of minutes, especially after it has been posted on sites like Hotukdeals an...

Re: Kinect drivers?

Forget about it, 700Mhz ARM core in RasPi is just not powerful enough to make this working properly, all Kinect calculations are done by software.

Unless there is some way to offload these calculations to GPU, it is not going to work.

Re: RasPi final price / pre-orders possibility

Once information goes to Engadget/Slashdot ("35$ XBMC device, faster than Tegra 2 on sale NOW!!!"), it is over, I am afraid...

It would also be interesting to know how many people subscribed to the mailing list.

<t>Hello,<br/> <br/> First of all, many thanks for all your hard work! This is really amazing project which has got a potential to be a game changer in terms of children education platforms/embedded solutions. <t>These are all great ideas, but I think some of you do not realize how low-powered (in terms of computing power) this ARM core is.<br/> <br/> I guess you can roughly expect performance of antique Pentium 200Mhz (with MMX from this 700Mhz ARM core.<br/> <br/> Graphics core is much faster, but its u...
