Re: Anyone got any advice on running a Code Club?

I was playing around with my Pi a year or so ago and it has gotten forgotten amongts other stuff. I too have volunteered to do a coding club. I will keep an eye on this thread and look to dust the Pi off!

Sourcing Pi's in Eastern Asia

I have recently relocated from Europe to far eastern Russia (GMT+11) and am looking to source a number of Pi's for the school I am teaching at.

Any advice as to the best and most reliable route to do this?

Many thanks in advance; all input appreciated.

Re: 01/16 UltraSlim = Retro/Gaming/Q3|XBMC 12/13|Desktop + m

I need help. First let me say that I love the concept of this distro, and it seems to have be an extremely easy setup... that said... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, everything seems to be working correctly except I don't see any of the emulators. I've added roms to ~\roms\snes\ and ~\roms\mame\...

Well first if your afraid of messing it up, You can back it up with "win32 disk imager". Just pick the name and device you want to back up then click read. After that here's the update just run these commands. Assuming you know how if not just go into the LXDE (desktop), then open the LX Terminal. ...

I am not too good with Linux. I have Gotham running on my Windows machine and Helix alpha on my android device. How can I update to Gotham on Ultra Slim? Frodo is fine and I use it daily. I don't want to mess it up as the kids use it for watching films all the time on the TV but if it's quicker I wo...

XBMC distribution choice

So I have been using XBMC on Ultra Slim for a while now. It has got very slow over the last couple of weeks (I have a windows and android version working over the same network without the same speed issues). I am looking at other possible distributions and so am considering splitting between media a...

Yatse is great :) I personally haven't had any issues with XBMC crashing while using it though... In fact when I first set it up me and the "future wife" ( we're engaged...haha ) each had an XBMC remote installed on each of our phones and were battling each other to control XBMC. In any case, I'm c...

I had everything working fine. Sound was working on all emulators. I went away for a few days and when I got home it wasn't working again! I don't know. Also I recently installed Yatse on my android device to try and get a slightly better remote experience. I set it up fine but the moment I try to t...

Calvin, Could very well be your TV. As far as XBMC only showing up in 1/4 of the screen... believe it or not that is actually a keyboard command. ( key = \ ) Don't ask me why that is even a command...but it is. That one threw me for a short while as well. Please do keep us posted on whether everyth...

Glad you were able to resolve most of your issues :) 1.) My general rule of thumb for determining what games will work well on PS1 / N64 emulation is the file size of the ROM. Typically if it's less than 8mb - It's playable. Although file size is technically speaking a terrible indicator - as it ha...

Samsung GS3 4.3 UK update

Has anyone tried the new new release after it was stopped?

I am looking forward to trying the new features but am waiting to see if the bugs have been fixed.

Re: Getting started

I did get a little play about with it alternating between keyboard and mouse just to get a feel for it. Our friendly neighbourhood geek shop very kindly did me a straight swap on a whole new box set. Will probably have to wait another month now to synch my kids afternoon naps to give it a go ;) CC

Re: Getting started

Did all that and nothing. Unplug the hub and it boots. Very annoying especially as it does it even when not powered. It all came in an all in one box from Maplin's so it should be OK. Must be just a dud.

Re: Getting started

OK the display is working now but still no luck with the USB hub CC *edit* I've had a play around and it must be an issue with the hub itself. I thought it might be a power issue but I don't think so now. It causes a cut in power whether the hub itself is powered or not. The USB plugs on the Pi are ...

Hi I am a husband, father of three and a teacher but still hope to find some time to play with my new toy.
