Is it possible to Zoom out using Raspi Official Screen

Hi, One app I am working with (gqrx and its configuration screen) is too large to view using the Official Touch Screen. The same issue occurs when I use RealVNC viewer to view and operate the touch screen remotely. I can access all the controls if I need to using ssh -Y but that is using a separate ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 -> iBeacon

Just a quick note to confirm that the above instructions worked for me on a new install of Raspbian Jessie. (not Noobs.) The beacon was almost instantly detected using Android app called Locate by radiusnetworks.com. It is also detectable using an app called BlueScan. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Ac...

Re: matchbox keyboard

I hit this last night. Can't explain why shortcut does not appear but I created my own shortcut on the desktop as follows: In terminal: cd Desktop nano keyboard.sh insert the following 2 lines: #!/bin/bash matchbox-keyboard exit nano, then make the script executable chmod +x keyboard.sh Hope this he...

Re: How to ping?

I have just encountered this issue on the Nov 2015 Raspbian Jessie release downloaded last night. Reinstalling ping using sudo apt-get install --reinstall iputils-ping worked for me. That said, given that this issue was discovered some time ago on Jessie Lite and that ping is such a fundamental trou...

Re: Wifi-config app/icon missing under Jessie

Thanks both - I am glad it is not missing and that it was just my vision that let me down. Now that I can see it on my tiny screen I agree this is a better interface to configuring wifi. However, I do think that it should be on the menu too - not least because when setting up we now need a mouse as ...

Wifi-config app/icon missing under Jessie

Apologies if this is an FAQ or if it has already been fixed but I drew a blank searching for Jessie and Wifi config. I have just downloaded the full version of Nov 2015 version of Raspbian Jessie from https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_latest and have installed in my Raspi Zero board. I was ...

Attached is a extract from the mechanical diagram of the rear of the display which I have annotated with some additional measurements. I have hatched the area where the front panel is thicker.

Re: Strange Screen artefact

Ah so its a subtle new firmware feature - in this case telling me that the Raspi's power supply voltage is below spec.
It is a shame that the indication is not more explicit given the importance of this signal but thanks for clarifying.

Strange Screen artefact

Raspi V2 running Raspbian installed from Noobs and recently updated and upgraded. No unusual software installed. My display shows a strange multicolour icon in the top right that I have never seen before. This occurs in graphical and command-line modes on hdmi screen and my new raspi display screen....

A quick case for Raspi display

So you have just just received your RaspberryPi Display and need a quick method for mounting it. One solution is under your nose... Just cut out a rectangular hole approx 103mm x 168mm. Cut a hole in the back for the power lead and the jobs done. Plenty of room around the display for switches push b...

Re: Measuring light levels with camera

Consider using a LDR and MCP3208 to measure the light level. A agree that LDR is the simplest approach and have done this before just with an LDR, a resistor and a capacitor but the problem I am trying to solve is how to measure ambient light levels with the camera and nothing else. The reason I wa...

Re: Measuring light levels with camera

Thanks folks. Attempting to use analog_gain revealed that I had installed the library through pip and apt-get and the one in use was the one that was not getting updated. Now that's fixed I am investigating analog_gain. It looks promising but suspect I am going to need to combine it with another val...

Measuring light levels with camera

I am looking for a simple way to measure light levels using a raspberry pi camera. I am not looking for a calibrated answer but either a decimal between 0 and 1 or an integer value. Having read the documentation for the picamera library I was hoping that camera.exposure_speed might provide a value t...

Raspberry Pi Camera as a heart rate sensor

Is anyone working on use of the Raspberry Pi Camera module as a pulse rate sensor as per https://github.com/thearn/webcam-pulse-detector? I appreciate that measuring a pulse rate is probably Medical Device territory but it strikes me that since this method requires FFTs and FFTs can be calculated on...

Re: I2C, SPI, I2S, LIRC, PPS, stopped working? Read this.

All, I was bitten by this issue when I tried sudo apt-get upgrade in an attempt to troubleshoot a separate issue and I then made the mistake of believing that it was something I had just done that was now preventing all my DS18B20 temperature sensors from working. I only found the reason and the sol...

Re: Moving sdcard content to larger card

OK I can now report complete success. I was trying to resize the cards using ubuntu 10.04 LTS and it would appear that the version of gparted was not uptodate. I suspect this is what caused the initial issues I had in resizing. So I used dd exactly as before to copy across the original content to th...

Re: Moving sdcard content to larger card

Wow - Thanks all for your ideas. Creating a 4GB partition seems to have been the key to resolving this. Here's the detail of how I got on: http://pastebin.com/jgBT0fUG Now to work out how to resize the extended partition created by Noobs. The built in raspi-config reported that that feature was not ...

Moving sdcard content to larger card

I am looking for the simplest way of moving all the content of a 4 GB SD Card to an 8GB Card. The 4GB card has Noobs / Rasbian with lots of subsequent changes that I would prefer to keep. I initially tried configuring the new card with a new instance of Noobs (which I quickly tested on my pi) My pla...
