Hi. I want to run a USB TV tuner on Raspbian so I can watch TV on my little RPi field computer. However, the guides I have seen are all for RaspBMC. Does anyone know how to do this, and if so, which usb TV tuner do you recommend?

The Baofeng UV-5R has a feature called VOX, which is voice activated transmit. So if you could get an audio line into the Baofeng, you could make it transmit w/out worrying about wiring. The number for the VOX setting is the sensitivity. I think 10 is most sensitive but I'm not 100% sure.

If I recall correctly there is a script in Linux that runs when a network interface is down. You could edit this script to bring down wlan0. However, I'm not sure where this script would be or even if I remember correctly the way that this works.

Check your range on your multimeter. You might have it set too high. Also, are you trying to do this with light bulbs instead of the sun? Douglas6 is right, but this Pi Plate uses the I2C pins, so you might not be able to use those. However, these are the only pins it uses so the others should function normally. If you are doing stuff with GPIO, I suggest one of 2 things.

The print head is one large piece that doesn't move. Unfortunately to look at it though, you have to pull out every single part, therefore you can't look at it while its running. We might have figured it out though, we just haven't had time to test it yet. Thanks.
